New Snot = Cro-Mags Slipknot = Cro-knot or Slip-mags

Old Snot was a heavier rip-off of great Austin funk/metal band Bouffant Jellyfish who were incredible. Never really cared much for Snot.

If I pretend it’s not Snot, it’s pretty good.

And that little breakdown was kinda funky… that was the first point in the song where it sounded like Snot.

All in all, I thought it was solid… it’s just a pity that they’re using the Snot name.

I don’t think that there is anything necessarily bad about the song…it’s just not Snot.

It definitely lacks the groove that old Snot had.

I’m definitely surprised at Tommy Vext’s range with Snot. I don’t absolutely love the song. It’s listenable though. I like the heavier direction they took. Hopefully the new album will stick to that format.

I thought the song was pretty good considering I’ve never heard Tommy sing in that range.It’s not the same as the old Snot, because, well, that album was like a one in a million shot.Nothing against the dudes, but they probably aren’t going to hit it the way they once did.I think what makes Snot part of that metal lure is the tragic turn with Lynn dying.If he didn’t, no offense to the legacy of the guy or anyone else, but they probably would have made a few records that were alright and then faded into the sunset with the rest of the masses that came out in that era.

I tell you what *Bonesmuggler Bobby if Snot music bothers you so much get a 45 revolver and put it in your mouth and pull the trigger. It is the journalist right to have an opinion, but generally most bands get harsh reviews. It’s not worth reading opinions anymore because you know it’s going to be negative and it always is. The new Snot song is not terrible, and this is coming someone who is not a fan! Who the fuck cares about Spin magazine! Douchebag!

I saw ‘em before the singer died, I like ‘em quite a bit, but as of yet, I’m not a huge fan of this song.
I’ll probably give it a few more ‘spins’ to decide.
This new singer is kind of an odd choice, not sure if I’m gonna check ‘em live when they come to Portland or not.

Mark, that’s retarded. So music journalists have no right to an opinion? How fucking boring would that be? Besides that, this site is not Spin Fucking Magazine. It is unabashedly subjective, and we, as readers, reserve the right to agree or disagree and post about it in these nice little comment boxes. Saying that people who dislike a band should “Pick up an instrument and make your own music, blah blah fuckity blah” is the lamest shit line that a 12-year-old ever spewed out. You can be bad at making music and still know when music is terrible. Like Snot.

Bottom line is, I may not agree with Axl and Vince et al, but they certainly have the right to opine on THEIR BLOG.

Hey AXL, tell us how you really feel…
I’m a big time SNOT fan. I was there for all there shows here in L.A. Plaing with the likes of the early version of SOULFLY & HedPE. THose were the best shows of my life. I was totally excited to hear SNOT was getyting back together. I heard this strait from MIKEY’s mouth @ the Rainbow. Much respect to them & WE STILL MISS YOU LYNN!
SNOT still had elements of the punk/thrashy stuff in their music. There were way ahead of the times & had a very promising career. I instantly heard this song & although i do dig it, i gotta say Vext’s vocals don’t semm to fit. May take alot of getting used to. Sorry guys, but either way I’ll stil be there at the Key Club, I might even head to the Vegas show because DevilDriver kix teeth too!!

I’d have to agree with Axl. Compared to their old output, this new track just seems half assed. One of the things that helped Snot stand out was their funkiness, and there’s barely any of that in this song. Maybe it was to accommodate Tommy’s limited vocal abilities, who knows.

I don’t understand what the problem is here. Why is the journalist so harsh on this band? I’m not a fan of Snot. I listened to the song and it sounded really good to me. The riff was pretty cool and catchy. Why are metal journalist so fuckin anal about music. The only problem I had about the song was the breakdown which could have been written better. Everytime I come to this site or other alike sites it’s always trashing other bands, it’s absolutley ridiculous!!! Go pick up a fucking guitar or whatever and start your own band and write music you think is better. Metalheads are such whiny crybaby pussies, I’m sorry to say, forgive me but it’s true!! I mean this is what rappers and hip-hop artists do, talk shit about each other, it’s fuckin stupid and childish. Okay enough of my rant….
