first of all i love A7X up to the next album. i wont trash em though. i love that they do wat they do and piss off so many people. I mean i find it hilarious that everyone takes tim outa their lives to bad mouth them. I mean listen the major labol took them in. Congrats. That is good for them but i dont care bout their looks or anything like that its bout the music. ANd god fucking dammit city of evil was beastly. from the technicality all the way to the rhythmic vocals. if you ask me band like a day to remember (pussy shit wit screaming over it”) suck. I mean its just fal out boy wit some screaming over it. i mean seriously nothing gets worse then not being able to admit that your a pop punk band thats sucks and having to cover it up wit a few growls.

i’m going to attempt to stay out of normal flamer territory by putting this in a somewhat structured form, but avenged sevenfold suck loads of dick. they stink of cheese, they feed off of every metal cliche, and m. shadows is by no means a supreme singer. at his best he is merely ok, his voice is strained and nasally obnoxious. as for the drummer and guitarist, i respect them as talents in their respective instruments. that is undeniable. however, musicianship on the part of two members does not save a band from suck. avenged sevenfold crank out some of the most annoying hook-oriented, silly, and overall bland “metal” this side of the world. metal for the most part is cheesy, i agree. but them, like trivium, suffer from cheesiness on the part that they take themselves seriously and they don’t really pull if off in a classic manner.

i mean, for god sakes, they all have fucking meant-to-be-spooky stage names. this is 2008, and there’s a point when shit like that isn’t accepted. this is far past that point.

agree with anyone who says cities of evil was there best. tht album is sikk and no the new album is no terible is just lacking the same fires that mde coe so awesome. waken the falling is 2nd best in mi opinion. return to glory days oh and sorry for english jaja

If you want to hear true beautiful musicianship and songwriting, listen to City of Evil. A7X showed so much potential to be an awesome progressive metal act on that album and then blew it with their last album, which was one of the biggest metal letdowns for me in recent memory. The songwriting is soo lazy and boring on their last album. All of the songs are just forgettable. The thing I hate most is that after COE came out, everyone called A7X just another radio rock band, and it truly pissed me off because that album did not deserve to get compared to other radio acts like Disturbed, Hinder or whatever other instantly forgettable garbage is out there. But then, they fell into their own stereotype by releasing the self-titled album last year, and now they are just a band with one or two radio hits per album and then a bunch of other bullshit lazy songs. Just listen to the boring “Brompton Cocktail” or “Lost” or really any other song on that album to get what I’m trying to say here, and then compare it to the later songs on COE, like the incredible “Wicked End” or “Sidewinder.” No comparison whatsoever. So yes, I’ll be picking up this DVD, but only to support the band that I hope will someday return to writing the passionate, awesome music they used to. What do you say, A7X? I promise to forget that last album entirely if you promise to write an album as epic, finely-crafted and perfect as City of Evil.

I like avenged sevenfold pre city of evil, and while i do think they went downhill from there, the next two cdsdo have some good moments

I agree with what Majestic Unicorn said first. at least the first part. Avenged Sevenfold’s guitarists definitely have talent, but for some reason they have chosen to try to become popular and cool. If they put their efforts towards thinking of new, creative music writing, they could be great. But first, get rid of that vocalist and get new haircuts.

I cannot possibly believe anyone thinks City of Evil was their worst album. One of my favorite albums of all time. So inspired, original, and intense the whole way through. Every song off that album is a fucking masterpiece in my book.

A7X was a good metalcore act in 2004. since m shadows had throat surgery and cannot scream the band has lost their edge for me and the last two albums blow. they also said bad things about the hardcore scene which they came up through alienating older fans like myself.

Not sure what about me hating Avenged Sevenfold makes you think I listen to Disturbed, but let me tell you, I really think you damaged my otherwise shimmering reputation on the internet by accusing me of listening to them. I don’t know if I can ever recover from such a stunning blow. Really, you just took me down a peg big time. My opinion is now completely impeached.
