It sounds like a lot of you punks think its cool to put down metallica. If you don’t like it find something else to listen to. The new album sounds OK. Just remember on their worst day they’re still better than anything you could ever wish to be. Also to everyone saying the black album wasn’t any good, I think something like 11 million people thought otherwise.

keep posting all the long drawn out opinions that you want. keep saying how much you dont like them because its not as good as their albums in the 80′s. keep setting an unreachable bar for anyone to hit so that you can bash the greatest metal band of all time. lets face it… master of puppets will never be done again. but im telling you now… if the music put out by metallica today was done by any other band… you would be in love with it. but because its not a new black album you want to talk your shit. go ahead… say anything and everything you want. but stop saying that “everyone” feels that way. because guess what… the album isnt even out yet… it’s number one on amazon. it WILL debut at number one when its realesed. you know why???? because they are still the best metal band out today. so go ahead keep talking… keep claiming “they suck”… but guess what… no matter how much you say… they still stay on top.. and that wont be changing any time soon.

It sounded a lot better live last night at Reading than it did when I listened to it last week online. Can’t say it reached the lofty heights of “good”, however, in my opinion.

Luckily it was on fairly near the start of their set, before I got bored and left. Really not sure if the magic’s there any more at all.

it’s crazy to see this much of hateful debate over sooo over-rated band..

i LOVED Metallica. I started listening and playing metal and rock because of those guys – but they’ve become everything they laughed at before.

somebody wrote here in some comment – ‘when will they [Metallica] stop yelling ‘Oh, Baby’ in every song for 20 times’?

if i remember correctly, there is a famous quote of Helfield when they played their first Day on the Green fest in ’85 (they played between Bon Jovi and Ratt, if I’m correct) – he said – ‘if you expect to hear ‘Oh Baby’ in every fuckin song, you’re in the wrong place – we’re not THAT band’.

James, dude! YOU’VE BECOME THAT BAND…

it’s sad what they’ve become..
the only way i see they could come back to form is to fuckin kill themselves drinking and taking drugs, because sober thing is not working for them..

like Bill Hicks said once — ‘All you people who talk against taking booze & drugs – burn all your CD’s, because 99.99% of all the good music you own in your home was being made on booze or drugs…’

I’m not 100% sure why people come to this site to bitch about how the site is being run. Biased opinions are still opinions and everyone is still entitled to forming and expressing them as they feel fit. Maybe it’s a little hypocritical of me to say that seeing as the lame asses I mentioned earlier are merely expressing their opinions, but that doesn’t mean it’s not fucking stupid of them to bitch.

This is one of few sites that open minded metal heads can come to.

That said… new Metallica = meh.

I’m still on the “Excited for the new album” band wagon though.

The song is good, period. Not groundbreaking or revolutionary. People had WAY too high expectations at this ones. The standards of heavyness has changed so much with the popularization of metalcore and the gothemburg death metal wave….Metallica is not the meanest band of the world- It’s like go back in time, find the caveman that invented the wheel and ask him to redo it.The instrumental in the last part of the song is great, and it’s good to hear Kirk soloing again and not using his wah pedal for once. This is supposed to be the most downbeat track in the album….so I’ll wait to listen to the whole thing. by the way, I now LOVE Cyanide. It has an awesome groove, and a better drumming by Lars.
