DEAN THE MAN VS. DEAN GUITARS (AKA: HOW NOT TO POOP ON DIMEBAG’S LEGACY)

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 at 5:28pm by

Am I the only one who finds it somewhat fitting and hilarious that Dean Guitars founder Dean Zelinsky has left the company he started in 1976 to launch his own company called DBZ Guitars? I mean, it’s as if he said, “I, too, am disappointed and shocked at the raping and pillaging of Dimebag Darrell’s legacy in the name of selling bucketloads of guitars under the guise of tribute. I’m outta here.” Touche.

Yeah, and I am sure the estate of Darrell Abbott is turning away the money from every Dime ML guitar sold, right? It’s called commerce.

Vinny, I’m sure if you could capitalize on some dead guys’ legacy to make a buck you’d do it too. I noticed your own website doesn’t stop advertising bands and products you surely do not personally endorse.

If Dean scrapped all of their Dime guitars, then that commerce money flow would just shift to the aftermarket and eBay because of the increasing scarcity of that guitar body style.

Personally I couldn’t think of anything gayer to put on a guitar than lightning bolts… well maybe purple dicks.

No offense to Dimebag who is a god/legend.

  • The Mighty Fucking Quinn

Gayer than purple dicks…..I got it!

    Purple dicks….docking.

Although I like purple.Maybe electric yellow and neon orange dicks.

ok… this is a good example of someone not learning the lesson that guys like Ken Smith and Michael Tobias learned the hard way.. when you sell control of your company to on of the big boys.. you lose control and run the risk of ruining your name.

also.. I think Dean completely ruined any credibility Dime started bringing them by whoring his legacy out. People were starting to play Dean guitars because he was playing them.. then when they started going nuts with the 8,249 different “signature series” guitars they offer now.. no one gives a crap..

    good job corporate America!

Not surprising. Leo Fender left Fender to start another guitar company (G&L).

  • ERiK

Maybe he’ll start making guitars that don’t sound like tinfoil flapping in the wind. It takes a god-like player like Dimebag to make one of those scrap guitars sound like a musical instrument.

  • The Mighty Fucking Quinn

Revrant, quit talking shit and go back to “manhandling” your step dad’s balls.Fucking Blabbermouth reject.

  • The Metal Nerd

Darrels death (ive refused to keep rapeing the mans memory by consirtantly call him dime and saying r.i.p., etc.) is sad. Whats sadder is like all greats hes become notiing more than a useless capitalist mascot, and a staple of disposable pop culture. Buying any sort of beneign bullshit about the money from a DimeV purchase going to his estate is like shitting on the mans very grave. A damn insult to the mans legacy. Just like The Jonas Bots ureing Beatles songs to sell a fucking Trapper Keeper in Target commercials, though thats more Michael Jackson and Paul McCartneys faults. None the less, my point remains. LET THE DEAD STAY THAT WAY.

  • Sammy

Hey Axl and Vince, how about blocking the IP address of the moron who’s using others’ monikers to try and turn this into a flame war blabbergoat clone?

  • Devin

If you look at every post Revrant left, the only thing relating to music is fuck Dimebag…

Everything else is about cocks and assholes.

Get the fuck out. And this will be my last post on this little blurb so as not to feed the flamer.

    Again, not me.

  • PD

Wow this kid’s cool. He’s really 5’8″ with a 3″ penis, and I’m talking erect.

Why would anybody want a Dragon Ball Z guitar? Ok, seriously, lame for using Dimebag’s death to sell guitars. If they make good guitars, that’s great. Get living musicians to sponsor your stuff. Show some respect for people.

Does it occur to anyone here that maybe Dean Zelinsky himself has gotten tired of the pilfering of Dime’s legend and has said enough is enough. If I am not mistaken this is the SECOND exit he has made from Dean Guitars, the first time being when Dean branched out into building Korean Junk and was sold to Armadillo Music in 91 only to return in 2000 as a consultant and then a partner again after reestablishing the US Custom Shop. As for Deans being crap, I have owned an original Z since 1978 made in Illinois and there is NOTHING that will touch it. In the 70′s ONLY Dean and Hamer made an American guitar that was worth a shit. But because of those two companies making a fine product at a time Fender and Gibson were making junk, there place in history is assured. Most current metal players weren’t even born when Dean ruled the stages so I am not surprised that most of the younger players have no idea of the original Dean machines quality compared to the recent rehases of the old models I.E. V, ML, Z . His biggest mistake was selling his name with the company, not leaving the company. I say welcome back MR. Z It is about time! As for ripping off the Dimebag legend….talk to Vinnie Paul and Dean Guitars as it is obvious that Dean Zalinsky has already made his opinion known on the subject

  • Dean Guitars fan

VM, why don’t you stop licking Dean Zelinsky’s nut sack and tell the truth. Dean Zelinsky got fired from Dean Guiatsr. Dean Zelinsky sold the company in the 80′s because he is not a businessman. Also, Dimebag choose Dean Guitars and the Abbot estate WANTS to continue Dime’;s legacy with the brand of Guitars he used. Regarding Michael Angelo Batio – he doesn’t perform at the booth at NAMM. Maybe he did a long time ago, but not anymore. I have been to NAMM for at least the last 4 years and have never seen him perform anywhere at any booth. You must either be friends with Zelinsky or he is paying you to trash an awesome company. DEAN GUITARS RULe and nothintg you say is going to change that. Dean Zelisnky’s career was resurrected by the current owner. His way of repaying him is to trash the company. Dean Z is a low life, failed businessman.

  • Dean Guitars fan

1 last thing everyone. Dean Zelinsky did not quit Dean Guiatrs as he has lied about. DEAN ZELINSKY WAS FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sour grapes from a loser who was completely out of the music biz for 15 years. He couldn’t run Dean Guitars the first time and now his only recourse is to trash the name of the company that brought him back into the music biz. This is the truth. VN, you should be ashamed to print this bull shit.

  • Dave

    dude, i totally i agree

and to be totally honest, i think Dimebag would be happier playing Deans new guitars rather than Dean guitars.

  • DEAN_SUCK!!!!!!!

I totally agree with Vince Neilstein. I bought a dean guitar a few months ago, it was a dean ml x “dimebag” and I hated that things so I returned it back to guitar center got my money back and bought a REAL guitar.

  • psylent

Oh everyone go have a cry … Dime was a great guitarist he designed some great guitars, dean currently use that design and sell the guitars under that name,… what is your problem ??? it seems to make sense to me that the guitars are called “DIME” because they are designed by him.

get a life, and get a real guitar …. Dime V explosion ftw

And i’ll send all you pussies some e-tissues ..
