Sorry, I meant to say; Your NOT going to anticipate a great new release and end up with something like Load for instance, (sorry but bagging Metallica seems to be the flavour of the month).

AC/DC sound like AC/DC, the main reason a lot of people like them. When they release a new album you know what you're going to get, Aussie pub rock. Your going to anticipate a great new release and end up with something like Load for instance, (sorry but bagging Metallica seems to be the flavour of the month).

AC/DC hasn't changed in 30 years. Yes these are the same riffs. Yes these are the same basic lyrics. Yet somehow AC/DC never seem to sound stale. I can't explain why. What's amazing to me is Brian Johnson sounds exactly the same today as he did in 1980. After nearly 30 years and thousands of shows he still sounds the same. When he belts out Back in Black today it sounds no different than the day it was first recorded. I can't think of another singer in rock or metal that the same can be said. They need to take a page out of Black Sabbath's book though and stop bothering to put out new material and just tour. We'll come see whether there's a new album out or not. AC/DC is the band that got me into hard rock and into metal from there. They have never pretended to be something their not. Other bands could learn alot from them.

Actually, this is the best song they've put out since Who Made Who (which I realize was mostly a Greatest Hits record - but that's part of my point). The soloing on this is inspired more so than anything I've heard since the aforementioned album. Yeah, AC/DC sounds like AC/DC - even Angus once said, "I get really pissed off when people say I've recorded the same album twelve times. In fact, I've recorded the same album THIRTEEN times!" They know they have a niche sound that isn't privy to expansion or experimentation. But it did finally start sounding tired by the time Blow Up Your Video rolled around, which is pretty damn remarkable considering that Blow Up Your Video was recorded .

It sounds to me like taking eight years off was a good idea because I haven't heard this much vitality in AC/DC since I was in high school. That's thirteen years of great rock. While I've only heard this one track so far it may just indicate to me that AC/DC is planning on going out on a high note.

That's funny. It only took one chord to know who it was, and yep, still no drum fills.

It's well... AC/DC. It's just like any other AC/DC song, and that's not a bad thing, since AC/DC is great by itself. I just wish Metallica could do the Black Album over and over too.

Totally agree on the legacy act idea.

Bands like AC/DC and the Rolling Stones release new albums so they can go back on tour. They play maybe 1 or 2 new songs from the uninspired new record, and then spend the other 2 hours playing the classics everyone wants to hear.

Shit, even Judas Priest (who has actually released two decent albums in the past few years) knows that. Saw them at Jones Beach 2 weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure they played one song from Angel of Retribution, one song from Nostradamus, and the rest were the 'hits' that everyone wanted to hear.

Very few people go see a legacy band and think to themselves 'jeez, I hope they play 6 songs of that new album.'
