RAGE AGAINST MCCAIN’S VICE PRESIDENTIAL PICK

Not only were/are Rage Against the Machine fiercely political and idealistic, they’re also perhaps one of the only examples of rap-metal done right. The video for “Bombtrack” from 1992′s self-titled debut showcases not only the band’s political bent but their heavy as fuck riffs and grooves. Come on – don’t front. You love Rage Against the Machine. McCain’s super-hard right wing VP pick? Not so much.

    Sarah Palin is more moderately conservative/libertarian than hard right-winger. Her first act as governor of Alaska was to veto a bill denying state employees’ same sex partner benefits. She also has gone hard after the state’s propensity towards coporate welfare. That’s hardly “super-hard right wing”.

    I am NOT a McCain guy, nor a conservative, but you guys need to check your facts before making statements as if they’re fact.

    This was done because Obama didn’t pick Hillary. McCain saw a chance to pick up the feminista vote. Her politics/views/prior works have nothing to do with this.

    Pure politics.

    Oh, and I’m not negating any of the work that Sarah Palin has done, nor trying to start a sex-war (now copyrighted as my sideproject name). I’m also not saying she isn’t qualified. What I AM saying is that this choice was made because there were a lot of people wanting a female president (no matter WHO it was), and this will bring that vote to McCain.

    I’m still astonished, first Obama doesn’t pick Hillzdawg(Yeah, I call her Hillzdawg), and instead this, anti-technology war supporting blatant lying-to-the-press waffler/flip flopper(What they claimed Kerry was, this guy is) old white guy, thus dividing the democratic party, and then McCain picks the dark horse my friend and I agreed would be a good pick.

    Such a bizarre election, oh and I could care less about RATM’s politics, though their dedication is great and all.

    To all those defending Palin by ripping on Obama’s experience: how are you defining “qualified” for ruling? Does having ruled for a long time suddenly make you suited for it? Ever hear of Strom Thurmond? The guy was batshit insane and racist. But he had experience!

    To me, “qualified” means being intelligent, well-reasoned, competent, and not batshit insane. YMMV.

    Throughout the whole Obama campaign all we hear is his “change” mantra, but what disturbs me the most is every so often the word “fundamental” gets thrown in there. No sane person would argue that the US is a perfect nation but if someone thinks the fundamentals(founding principals) of the greatest nation mankind has ever known needs tinkered with then they are neither intelligent, well reasoned, or competent. And i would suggest ignorant, dangerous, and just downright moronic.

    People should look into Obama more before saying dumb fucking shit, honestly. It just shows the level of ignorance when he’ll say the same exit strategy he’s had for fucking ever and not just people, but NEWS REPORTERS claim it’s a flip flop. Sarah Palin was a beauty queen who got elected as a govorner in a half-state with a population of 13. Read Obama’s books. He is not just a politician, he sees things through that of a philosopher’s eyes. Listen to his speeches and you will feel like things can change.

    She is less qualified. She has worked as a governor for 2 years, Obama has been a senator for far longer. Her qualifications are working as a governor who didn’t do very much and working as a mayor for a town with 9,000 people in it.

    Also – she is extremely right-wing. She wants to drill in the Alaskan refuge, which even McCain doesn’t want to do. Not only that, she chose to keep a baby KNOWING THAT IT HAD DOWN’S SYNDROME instead of having an abortion and saving her baby from a life of suffering. Her husband works at British Petroleum! She’s also against gay marriage. Right-wing? I sure fucking think so.

    Mal: She shot down an unconstitutional ban on benefits for same sex couples when the Senate Republicans went against the Supreme Court and tried to push it through, she has forced compliance with standards that previous Governors let slide for(ala Texas) nice fat campaign contributions, I disagree with a myriad of her views, but she is *not* far right, she and McCain overall are just “right”, they can’t match Bush, Cheney, or Huckabee.
