FOR TRIVIUM, IT’S NOT EASY BEING GREEN
Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008 at 11:31am by Axl RosenbergTrivium’s new video, “Down from the Sky,” has hit the web, and apparently, director Ramon Boutviseth really likes the color green, or the movie Saw, or both.
ANYWAY, I actually really like the video. If you’re gonna incorporate found footage for the sake of trying to give your clip an apocalyptic feeling, using vintage newsreels is a much better move than using newer stuff. And while this isn’t necessarily the song I would have chosen to represent the band’s new album, Shogun, enough people have already heard some of the other stuff from the album that I s’pose it doesn’t really matter.
One thing I could live without in this video: the part at the beginning where the band is doing those hero poses. I know it’s a video and a certain amount of staging is to be expected, but come on, what year is this?
Roadrunner will release Shogun on September 30. While you’re thinking about it, why not read our interview with Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu?

The beginning sounds poppy as hell, then middle comes in and its just like a whole bunch of uninspired riffs.
The solo though is pretty good. The rest…bleh
boring
I thought the song was pretty good. It’s kind of poppy, but overall it’s a more mature sound for Trivium. Rather than straight metalcore or straight Metallica-ripoff, they’ve found a way to blend different elements of their sound together to create a fuller product.
Also, is Matt Heafy trying to look like Tim Lambesis in this video, or is that just me?
I’m really beginning to hate when a metal fan uses the word “poppy” for anything other than the plant heroin is derived from. Pop is Fergie. Pop is John Mayer. If by “poppy” you mean “has a semblance of melody”…then you need to expand your view of “metal” as a general genre.
Some of you need to crawl out of your br00tal (another retarded term and spelling) basements and realize your narrow definitions are anything but universal.
it still baffles me how you guys repeatedly trash metallica but you always suck the dicks of trivium and protest the hero…2 bands that A: are horrible horrible shit-faggot trendfollowers and B: wouldnt exist if metallica had never formed
I like this song a lot better then the other one that was put online a few weeks back. Also when watching the video after what matt said about the singer looking like Tim from AILD, he totally does! black cut-off shirt and the fist pound to the chest seal the deal. lol
Let’s See
1. Kirisute Gomen- great
2. Into The Mouth of Hell (We March)-great
3. Down From The Sky- great
Lets face it. 3/3 is amazing. Hope the rest are just as good
I like it. It definitely does have a strong hint of Soilwork in there, but I like Soilwork a lot, so that’s a good thing, We’ll see how the whole album holds up.
Much better than the crusade so far. I will be picking up this album for sure. =D
1 last post. LMAO yes he does actually look like Tim in this vid haha
