CHIMAIRA ARE MAKING A CONCEPT ALBUM ABOUT SOUTH PARK???
Friday, September 5th, 2008 at 10:30am by Axl RosenbergWell, no, not really.
The above photo of alleged “song titles,” all references to MetalSucks’ favorite construction paper-animated satirical sitcom, comes from a studio blog the band has just launched to keep fans in the loop with regards to progress on their new album, which will be produced by Jason Suecof and released in ‘09. The band explains the silly song titles thusly…
“even though we know some people might actually think we are serious (sad) we are not. before a song has a title, we make up a fake name to make things easier at the practice space.
“it’s a lot easier to say ‘hey let’s work on Ned’ than it would be to say ‘hey let’s work on that one with the riff’”
Anyone who has ever a) been in a band or b) seen any number of other behind-the-scenes documentaries/blogs/whatever will be familiar with the concept of the temporary song title. Still, the idea of Mark Hunter bellowing about Starvin’ Marvin and Big Gay Al is kinda priceless when you think about it.
As I’ve said in the past, I’m insanely excited for this album. Chimaira are one of those bands that make huge leaps and bounds from record to record. Let’s hope they can keep up the streak they’ve been on for at least three albums now.

what’s sad is that half my band’s song names ARE from south park…
we always create “working titles” for songs, too. like “surprise buttsex”, “TiVo thinks i’m gay” and “bring me the head of miley cyrus”
Here’s a concept for Chimaira: Stop making music.
ohhh hate hate hate
They have a cool name.
clearly you didnt read the blog, cause it says right there that they wont be working with suecof
Just curious…why do they spell it like that
If they name this album “Catatafish”, I will love this band more than I ever thought I could.
timmaay!
what? you can’t have south park working titles and not have “Marklar”…thats the essence of south park working titles.
