APPARENTLY THERE IS A WORLD OUTSIDE OF METALLICA
Friday, September 12th, 2008 at 12:34pm by Vince NeilsteinWhile we were busy paying homage to the world’s biggest metal band yesterday, turns out some other kind of important stuff actually happened too. Who’d've thunk it?
Scar Symmetry announced that vocalist Christian Älvestam has left the band. This makes me very sad. While guitarists Jonas Kjellgren and Per Nilsson may be the primary creative force behind the group, Älvestam is an amazing and diverse vocalist who will be missed. Holographic Universe will certainly end up in my year-end top albums list for 2008, so hopefully the band can find a suitable replacement and finally play these songs on the road.
The Haunted are streaming all of their new album Versus on their MySpace page. Go listen!
Children of Bodom have a new video for “Smile Pretty For the Devil.” Alexi might be writing the same song over and over, but shit, it’s a great song!
Dark New Day drummer Will Hunt says “There WILL BE NEW DARK NEW DAY AVAILABLE BEFORE CHRISTMAS 2008.” We hope so! Clint Lowery joined the band for a one-off show in Marietta, GA since his Sevendust show had been canceled by Hurricane Ike. Good to know things are peachy between Clint and DND.
Avenged Sevenfold post “Scream” from their recently released live DVD.

son of a bitch!!! scar symmetry’s music is great, but christian is what really set them apart from other bands. great… i guess it’s time to go throw my belt over the curtain rod.
A7X dvd doesnt come out til the 16th fellas, its not recently released
GOD DAMMIT(Scar Symmetry)
I read the news about Christian yesterday on Sputnikmusic, it makes me sad, such a great vocalist! How can they find a good replacement? Maybe this will be the beginning of the downfall for SS :(
Well, unless Scar Symmetry finds another god of a vocalist, they’re fucked.
wow if it wasn’t for the girls grinding in the back avenged sevenfold concerts would the most boring band to watch live even the fans were just standing there lulled to sleep
Wow, what some chicks will do to be famous…
grinding in an A7X gig? New low… XD
jesus fucking christ, avenged sevenfold might as well be creed. shitty corporate rock, wow…
Christian was awesome. I’m really hoping they get a replacement who can fill his shoes with his nice growls and impressive clean singing.
Scream has a badass bottom end to it for a song…I give the video two thumbs up…and a7x 5 horns up.
The news about Christian is fucking devastating! I can’t believe I’ll never get to see that lineup of SS live! *prays for a SS reunion*
according to wiki the new singer for SS is dan swano. i was devastated to hear this news
scar symmetry is NEVER going to replace christian. the music is excellent, but the vocals were outstanding, and definitely my favorite part about the band.
this fucking sucks.
i give avenged sevenfraud two giant fists up their booty holes…
