GOD FORBID. NEW SONG. MYSPACE. GO NOW.
Friday, September 12th, 2008 at 1:09pm by Axl RosenbergDallas Coyle just e-mailed us to let us know that a new God Forbid song, “Empire of the Gun” (somewhere Spielberg is smiling), has just been posted on the band’s MySpace page.
The song is the shit. It has everything you want from a God Forbid song – aggression, melody, strong hooks, a killer guitar solo, groove, chunky riffs, all that good shit.
God Forbid’s new album still doesn’t have an official release date or title, but it will drop sometime in early ‘09. Personally, I vote for just calling the whole album Empire of the Gun, but maybe the band has something cooler up their collective sleeve.
GO CHECK OUT THE SONG RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

YEAH!! Nothing better than listening to a kick- ass GF song to cheer me up after reading the sad news about Scar Symmetry…. damn this one really sounds awesome!
i used to think these guys sucked. After listening thoroughly to their songs posted on their myspace i have come to another conclusion of how thrashin these guys are.
No hard feelings, Dallas?
Very cool. I think the chorus vocal is a little meh but that is nitpicking. GF is one of the leaders of this style of metal for sure.
Cool tune! I’m glad there is some new GF on the horizon. I got scared when they released Sickness and Misery until I realized it was a re-issue of old material. Because it (no offense) was shit compared to their newer albums.
Best thing they’ve ever done.
It sounds sick. Like a lot of new music it will take time for it to fully grow on me, but unlike ‘the day that never comes’ I actually thought it was good the 1st time I heard it. keep up the good work, I’ll definately be at the next show in long island or NYC. I expect last show at the crazy donkey might keep GF in NYC tho…
Solid song! I can’t wait for the new album now!
Dallas, you and the other guys are doing a hell of a job :)
Great stuff, need to give it time to grow on me though cause i think i will love this song after a couple more spins.
good song title but i have heard better from other bands that are trying to sound like that.
So there are some god forbid cover bands out there that sound better than the real thing?
I can’t even properly judge this considering how awful music on MySpace sounds. Bands need to start using PureVolume again.
Sounds sick. God Forbid have really forged their own path in metal. They’re one of the few modern bands who can say they have a unique sound, and it sounds like they’ve really perfected it. Awesome riffs the whole way through, drummer sounds at the top of his game, the only thing I’m not too keen on is the chorus, but only because I’m so used to the layered, harmonized clean vocals on Constitution. Plus, I’ve only listened to it once! Great job guys, keep up the good work
It sounds like Dallas voice has changed a bit, a more raw yet still clean voice, and I really like it! The song is great, it has everything that makes GF good!
Honest opinion – i.e., not sucking up because I like Dallas – this song kicks ass. And yes I do dig the chorus. And riffs are fucking tight. And the solo is modern with a good nod to the past. I’ll be buying this – as in, actually paying real dollars for the album.
Oh, and at the same time I’ll redeem myself with the mea culpa of buying the last abum as well.
This song kicks some serious ass.
I know I posted already, but I gotta keep saying it, it’s sooooo fucking good.
Oh my dear and fluffy lord… this song is awesome.
Liked it the first listen. Liked it better the second. loved it the third. Yeah the chorus could be better but so what, the riffage makes up for it.
and i’ll also be buying the album

Empire of the Gun would be an awesome album title. Good work on the song boys, it’s excellent.
I like the riffs! It does sound a bit like stuff of ‘Constitution…’, though. I see that there is an improvement on the sound towards a more organic one, yet I still find the drum sound to be too dry.
Yuck. The chorus vocals are horrible. And the song overall is way too formulaic. After graciously waiting for new material, I can say I’m a little disappointed. Still have high hopes for the rest.
