IS IT PRONOUNCED “NECK-RAH-FO-GIST” OR “NECRO-FAGE(rhymes with “page”)-IST”?

This has been the source of much debate each time the Metal Injection dudes come over to the MS Mansion to blaze; as you might guess, hours of stoned arguing inevitably commence. But who the fuck cares how you pronounce the name of the band when they make music so bloody awesome? Check out the interview with Necrophagist mainman Muhammed Suiçmez that MI shot this past Saturday at the band’s support gig for Carcass.

    Second option. No real debate here, IMO. Look up “macrophage” and check the pronunciation there. Stress should be on first syllable, and the “phag” part rhymes with “page.”

    I like Necrophagist, but this interview seems really awkward, particularly on Muhammad’s part. It may just be the language barrier for him, but it seems like he’s giving off this attitude of “Why am I being bothered with this question?”

    @36Thoughtless It definitely was a language barrier and not attitude at all. He was extremely nice, it just seemed he was kind of struggling to find the words to properly express himself.

    ^ Well A) You’re wrong, because Neck-row-fahg-ist is the correct pronunciation (Muhammed stated this in another interview) and B) if you think they’re awful you have no business listening to metal in the first place.

    Germans use a long vowel sound, Americans use a short. Its a latin word. Either way is right, but being of English tongue, its, in my case being literate and your case being a know-nothing retard who equates talentless neo-tech-death wankery to somehow being in the upper echelons of decent metal, as I have already stated.

    It is neck-ro(w)-fa(like far)-gist … it’s how we say that bands name in Austria (we speak german) so that’s the correct pronunciation
