WOW GREGDOUT, you alctually like this trash, when they try to do a break down all you hear is raaa blaaa raa blaa. I though trivium were past this and wanted to sound like kreator. But this is not thrash at all, and I know this because I been listening to them since Ember to Inferno came out and saw them open for machine head back in 2004. They KILLED then, but now BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

You want to a real amazing thrash bands Nocturnal and Advenger of Blood.

I don’t like how the vocals are so literal with the rhythm of their songs… it’s like they can’t think of anything interesting to do with the words.
This is definitely better than a lot of their previous shit.

They’re actually pretty chill dudes. I saw them last night in Bakersfield and they played KG, Down From The Sky, Into The Mouth Of Hell We March, and Insurrection as far as shit from Shogun. I hung out with em for a few afterwards and we just bullshitted and they signed a few things and posed for pictures. The new album is totally badass in my opinion.

They may be able to play, but it doesn’t help the fact that Heafy and the band are complete douchebags. Rockstar attitude for days with those guys. It’s actually comedic. I just can’t dig a band when I know the members are full of shit.

…never been a big fan of Trivium, I always had seen them as Metallica wannabes trying to disimulate ther huge metallica influence with metalcore choruses and breakdowns, but this sounds really really good. They have really grown as a band. Lamb of God is still the best american metal band nowadays, IMO.

this is definitely they’re best stuff. i was never into them. they’re good musicians but their music was always a “meh”. but i love everything i’ve heard from shogun and i’ve heard the entire album now

Anyone else notice how the lyrics keep getting more and more absurd? I don’t really care about lyrics and vocals as much (obviously as a metal fan) but it’s hard not to be distracted by some of the inane things that dude spits out. Maybe it’s different on this one, at least there’s only a couple of song titles that makes me laugh instantly.

I had a huge metalcore boner when the debut came out and it carried halfway through Ascendancy. Not sure I can forgive a band for a song like “Dying in Your Arms” so I gave up on them when The Crusade came out. Personally, when they were playing standard metalcore they were far more interesting than Metallica v 2.0 who confusingly become Japanese samurais. I’ll give it a spin, but hearing about weak attempts at death growls doesn’t help the cause.

wow phil the more you type the more it shows what little you know about trivium and metal in general. down grade from crusade? are you fucking high? crusade had it’s moments (becoming the dragon/the crusade) but it’s very clear that shogun destroys crusade.

i’ve had the album for about a week now and haven’t stopped listening to it.

The first song on the album is amazing, some parts have a Iced Earth style Gallop and some death metal style playing, after that song the album trails off in to a VERY GAY direction. The death metal/deathcore style breakdowns are super retarted and I though they wanted to me all over metallica’s dick. What happened metallica found out about it and made death manganic, now trivium don;t know what to do. Its like a EXTREME down grade from an amazing Crusade album. And everthing sounds like a watered down asendenscy. Problley give this a 4 out of 10 because the solo’s save the album and when matt sings he sounds amazing.

Define “interesting” Steverazor, b/c–without having heard the new record yet—I find them to be terminally dull. I don’t dislike them b/c i consider them fags, or b/c I think that I have more talent in my whole body than in Heafy’s little finger. I just want to sleep for long periods of time whenever i hear that dull, ringless, charmless THWAP of a bass drum sound that signals that I’m listening to Trivium. At least Lars lets the natural tone of the drum sing now and again.

But, I haven’t heard Shogun (groan) which I’m sure is a fuckin’ masterpiece.

These kids are amazing guitarists and write melodic and interesting modern thrash. Why is the metal community so hard on them? Heafy has more talent in his little finger than these idiots calling Trivium “fags” do in their whole body. I don’t get it.
