Awesome Interview :) Probably the best I read with Alex....Thx for sharing :)
HE IS an awesome guy and musician, I just happen to meet him 3 weeks ago with Trans-Siberian Orchestra, actually it was Chris Caffery the one who sent me an invitation with the VIP Backstage Pass.
It was my 1st time to see them & Meet them inperson, we talked abt. the Iraqi Metal Scene, coz I just got immigrated to the states from Iraq, so we talked abt. the bands there, obstacles and such stuff & they promised to keep in touch and work on somethin in future :)

Wish them all the best....

@GREGDOUT: Skolnick was very cool and very laid back. What you read here was the full, unedited transcript of our interview on the back of their tour bus after the band just finished their set (despite what the intro to this article states) with five friends waiting in the front, and AC/DC cranking in the back.

I would not blame Skolnick for the "meh"-ness of the piece, but rather me for not being able to go through and edit and tighten the article up. The problem is that I am currently finishing up another book and have not had time to do any editing work on my interviews, so the MS pitbosses decided to run the piece unexpurgated.

Skolnick is also a very nice guy and a huge fan of metal. He came and hung out with me during both Heaven and Hell and Judas Priest's sets later that night.

@Sammy: Completely agree with you in regard to Eric peterson. He has always been one of my favorite rhythm guitarists. He is also a very funny and friendly guy as well.

Skolnick is one of those guys you know instantly when you hear him play. When Criss Oliva died, I think Skolnick was the only viable choice to fill his shoes with Savatage.

However, Eric Peterson is a very underrated guitarist. If you play guitar, read his Guitar World column sometime. He gives great insight into rhythm guitar playing.
