ZAKK WYLDE’S “WE ARE THE WORLD”
Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 at 9:10am by Axl RosenbergWhat the fucking fuck is going on in this clip from Fuse’s television version of the Talking Metal podcast? I don’t even mind the song so much – I have a soft spot for pretty ballads sung by big brutish metal dudes – but what’s up with the “We Are the World”-style gathering around the mic, and the slow fades of Zakk emoting in the studio, and the velveeta dripping from every pore of this clip?
By the way, the song is called “‘Till the End.” I have no idea where it comes from, but it’s not on any Black Label Society albums, to the best of my knowledge.
Also, that is current Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal on guitar. Kinda funny, considering Zakk nearly joined GN’R about thirteen years back.

let me guess, this song is about his “fuckin’ bro, fuckin dime, man”?
This is a fuckin joke right. If it is a tribute to Dime he’d probably laugh his ass off. Love Zakk, but this is terrible!!
is that gene simmons on the drums?
Now that’s comedy.
Zakk’s gotta be the first guy to rock the gauntlets while playing piano… Unless Elton John had a “Medieval” period
Is this for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month?
Wow, this is really, really terrible.
My thoughts on Zakk Wylde are really a dichotomy. On the one hand, he’s a great guitarist who seems like a guy who actually would hang out with you as a normal dude. Hell, he lets radio backstage winners play his fucking guitars on his tour bus and shares his beer with them. He’s been married to the same woman for almost 20 years and is known for being faithful to her (saying a lot for a rock star) and plays “Dad” like a normal guy.
On the other hand, he transformed from a bell-bottom wearing, open shirt, hair swinging guitarist to this biker/Viking/mountain man persona. I don’t even remember it happening. It seems rather phony to me.
And where does the “Southern” tinge in his music come from? He’s from New Jersey. Odd.
Lastly, why must he release every fucking song he’s ever thought of? I admire that he is always writing, touring and recording, but just because you write a new riff, that doesn’t mean it’s any good. A little quality control goes a long way, Zakk.
Holy shit! Me and this guy from work used to play this clip in our office all the time! We used to play it for comic effect, obviously. There are so many terrible things going on in it. My favorite part is where Zakk is singing the part where he goes, “I can see” over and over again. They overlapped his vocals in that part when they recorded it and it just sounds like Axl Rose getting raped with a steel dildo!
Oh, and another thing:
CAN WE JUST LET DIMEBAG JUST REST IN PEACE ALREADY?!?!
You will not find this song on any BLS disc, or even one of Zakks. It was a song written for that show, which is a shitty show if you ask me. The song probably only took Zakk twice the time to write it than it did to play it. I remember watching this show, I purposfully watched it know Zakk was going to be on. Being a huge BLS/Zakk fan, I jump at any chance to watch something with him in it…..and I was highly disappointed with this show. It’s a 4th rate show on a 3rd rate channel purposfully trying to create a 2nd rate show to “speak to the average viewer”. The douche playing the drums is the host, and the tool playing the bass is the co-host.
Anyone who follows BLS at all knows that this video is a classic example of Zakk being a dork. Behind the hardass look, Zakk actually is quite funny. Check out his skits with Jim Brewer, I wouldn’t call them comic gold, but they try. Metal doesn’t always have to be serious.
