I have never used itunes to buy music because if im going to pay for it i'd rather have the cd experience and i live close to amoeba which is nice, but i dont think that his characterization of them only being in it for the money is correct in any way as they fought pretty hard against the price increase on digital music recently and i believe that they take a smaller profit on music sales than a record store does.

I have to admit, I don't necessarily take up an issue with what he said. Wal-Mart does sell some cheap-ass cds. I actually recall reading an article that Wal-Mart was fighting to lower cd prices, and apparently won. I bought a Behemoth cd for like 8 bucks, and all the AC/DC stuff is like $7 or less. I don't like Wal-Mart, but I don't think his reason for their decision is outrageous. Of course money is a motivator for the exclusivity deal also, but is that really a surprise? What he said makes sense to me.

Wow, I thought Brian Johnson was better than a statement like that but I thought AC/DC was better than a Wal*Mart exclusive. I won't buy the new album, not b/c it isn't good but b/c it is only being sold at Wal*Mart. I refuse to give my money to Wal*Mart for any reason or anything. This makes me sad in a way b/c AC/DC is one of the first bands to spark my love of music. For Those About To Rock was the first album I ever bought. AC/DC doesn't exactly have anything to worry about on the censorship front so I don't understand why the new album is a Wallyworld exclusive when it would have been sold there with no problem anyway. I'm assuming Wal*Mart gave them some ungodly sum for the exclusive distribution deal and I believe, Brian, that would be the very definition of sellout.

If you want to defend the death of the real record store experience, I get it. But Wal-Mart is the place that once banned a Sheryl Crow record because of content. I could be wrong, but i believe it is store policy not to carry anything with an advisory sticker. I dont think any corporation has demonstrated how much they hate artistry more than Wal-Mart... maybe News Corp.

On the plus side, though, it is your one stop stop for every AC/DC album ever made... so that's a thing.

Well, he is right in that iTunes has been the death of high-quality music over the past few years. 192kbs - or worse - is not something I'll pay for. And as I waxed on in an earlier post concerning the same topic, buying singles does nothing but cause people to become narrow-minded and afraid of exploration in music.

Aside from that, AC/DC sucks, and Wal-Mart probably only stocked their entire discography because I don't know what compliments the biggest white trash store in America better than AC/DCs music - the epitome of the lifestyle of trailer-dwellers everywhere. I've consistently heard more AC/DC blaring out of trailers, rusted-out early 90s Cavaliers, Neons, and Dodge Caravans than all other genres of music combined. Wal-Mart sell the music their target demographic (both Wal-Mart's and the band's) loves.

Aside from the point of this being a funny, misguided statement coming from a never-that-great band, it's not really even newsworthy. I can't remember the last person I talked to who really even knew, or cared, that AC/DC was still together.

Ironically I had wikitionary already open in another tab.

I really love how condescending this guy is with that one sentence.Great shit.Never was crazy on AC/DC anyway, but it's fucking ridiculous that the guy can't just say that in today's market, it does huge business and it's an exciting endeavor and call it that.It was huge for The Eagles, and Best Buy is going to do fucking bananas on the new GN'R.Just be honest, ya Aussie bastard.

Aww, there ya go again Axl, makin' me go look up a new word.

Actually, I do agree with you. A more honest answer would be, "Wal-mart offered a deal we couldn't refuse, and besides, our 'classic rock forever' demographic wouldn't know a download from a pantload."
