Lol wow. This had to be right before they played at king of clubs in tulsa. My band played right before them. They were the only band on the bill along with us and a few locals it was badass. Bc I was trying so hard to book the show with them and did and we drove 3 hours to play with them. And afterwards when everyone left nate sang dead world at sunrise. Jusr for a few of us left maybe 5 or 6 ppl. These guys are the next big thing I guarantee it

nathan is such a great guy. i used to talk to him a lot about anything from politics to music. he has such an open mind and appreciation for music of all kinds. sure, their recent album was different, but it was still awsome (btw, it takes more than 5 minutes to listen to it hun. go buy the cd and actually listen to the words. they put to much goddamn work into it and deserve more than fake fans that turn to limewire). their tour with iwabo, vanna, and oh sleeper was mindblowing. i cant wait4 the 3rd album

I saw the Human Abstract last night in Raleigh and they were awesome. I saw them in conjunction with Protest the Hero (who was very good as well). I am not a big fan of the new album, especially in comparison to Nocturne, but I really have a lot of respect for Nathan. He was walking around the bar after the gig, talking to the fans, and he was really cool and down to earth. It's refreshing just to see a band trying to create their own art. In a world full of bullshit politics, bullshit economics, and bullshit lifestyles, these guys seem to be doing something that is pure and unadulterated by the motives of our present-day society.

Its sad what happened to you guys, this album doesnt even feel like music!!! its all electronic sounds with a little bit of actual music thrown in what they were thinking when they made this crap, i dont know. But they sure proved to everyone that they do suck without A.J

I'm not even sure where to start with Midheaven...

I was disgusted with this album. Disgusted, let down, ripped off, disappointed; you get the idea. After being blown away by Nocturne, this was just absolutely atrocious. I with-held my judgment on this album until I had listened to it the whole way through, and now I really wish I could get the wasted minutes of my life back instead. It was weak, empty, whiny, flaccid, and unimpressive...and that's being nice about it. I can't even put into words exactly what is wrong with Midheaven; it just is.
There is a criminal waste of talent happening here, and it saddens me. How does a skilled and talented group of musicians resign themselves to this...this...garbage? I don't know what the hell really happened in the studio or within the band, since apparently I'm "not in their circle of friends". It's like a pipe-bomb went off in this album, and the shrapnel of suck and failure destroyed anything good that might have come of this.

I'll be honest, I downloaded this album, ie: didn't pay for it...and I still want my money back. I feel ripped off as it is, so I can only imagine how a person would feel if they had paid cash for this tripe. I very rarely delete music off of my computer, but this collection of fail didn't last five minutes after I had subjected myself to listening to it.

Rest in Peace, Human Abstract. It was good while it lasted, and I'm glad I got to see you before this happened.

Pretty honest interview.. that how things must be nowadays where the rockstars have gone and the ordinary guys are the ones who are building the scene

THA is my year's discovering (thanks to this site BTW) so I hear first midheaven and then went for nocturne.. as a result, I love MH and really like a lot Nocturne.. I recommend to newcomers to hear them in that order

being a person "in the know" its awesome to see such an interview to let the public know what is rightfully going on. im so tired of the aj fanboys, the nocturne fanboys, and THA haters in general going on about what they think happend, and why it happend. hopefully this will lessen the brash amount of ignorance spewed forth by the meat heads.

thanks VN, and metal sucks :)
made my day

Sammy, I think you're misinterpreting what he said about Wright. It sounded to me like he was saying that Wright came on for less than his usual fee and then didn't seem to be putting his all into it, possibly because of that. Nowhere does it say that they were surprised by how much he was payed.

While I was initially disappointed by Midheaven, I think a big part of that was the unrealistically high expectation I had after being fucking floored by Nocturne.
Overall I dig the new album, but Nocturne will always be a very special album for me.
I saw The Human Abstract on the Warped Tour and they were very good live. THA & Protest the Hero were pretty much the reasons I went. (All That Remains, Every Time I Die, & Sky Eats Airplane were nice bonuses too)

1) If a band people here didn't like admitted to adjusting their set list to the expected crowd, they'd be called a sell-out. (Mind you, I am not of that opinion. I think it's refreshingly honest.)

2) How do you hire a producer and LATER find out how much he is expecting to be paid. One would think you signed a contract. Or read the contract.

3) This is a decent album, and what makes it decent, in my opinion, is that it's proggy without being overly pretentious or noodly (well sometimes it is), and the vocals strike a good balance between clean and scream. Pure brutality is like a truck with a 16" lift and 38" mudder tires - it's to cover some other deficiency.

New album was awful and this is the main guy to blame. Vocals were atrocious all the way through. But everything was really bad, come to think of it. And I liked the first album. Go back to Nocturne style and I'll forgive ya, guys.
