I really don’t agree with this review…
‘Versus’ is actually a rather good album, atleast a 3.5/5
Yes, it does slow down a little too much by the later half of the album, but the songs are magnificient. So much more organic and powerful… and Crusher? What the fuck is so wrong with it?!?
I agree with Dropdeadfred, this is definetly a highlight of 2008.

After Listening to all the Crap you rave about I am glad to see you are disappointed in this album. I am very pleased with it myself. Even if it is not their best work several of the cuts are among their best. This album is still one of the best of 2008 and I feel very sorry for anyone who listens to your review and does not buy it!

This album is a surprising misfire for me. The Dolving / rest of band balance just doesn’t seem to work here, it frequently seems out of sync when on Revolver it clicked imo.

I admired what they did on The Dead Eye and there were quality songs on there. But while there’s groove, solid riffs and Dolving vitriol on Verses it’s not working together to make good songs enough of the time.

I thought Versus picked up nicely where The Dead Eye left off. It works and fails in the same way. The songs that are good are really damn good and the others just kind of blur out of focus. I could listen to Moronic Colossus and Little Cage a thousand times and they’d still be awesome but some of the other material tends to sound like filler just taking up space. I don’t think it’s as bad as this review tends to make it sound though. The Haunted still rock harder on Versus than 90% of anything else out there.

Hell yeah man. Peter Dolving has such a scarred and beaten feeling about him on rEVOLVEr. Marco Aro is alright but he was kinda one sided IMO.

Come on! The album wasnt that bad, even if i do think it suffers a bit from
the “tracks melting into one big soup of metal-syndrome”. Marco Aro sound way better in Face Down in my opinion. Nothing beats Dolving on rEVOLVEr! The tone and agression is amazing!

While I do agree with a chunk of this, I kind of take it in stride.I expect some Haunted ongs to be somewhat redundant, but heavy nonetheless.

Son of a bitch. I was really hoping for a good review on this album. Especially after hearing Moronic Colossus.

I do agree with it’s live comparison to 99 and D.O.A. Those two songs, especially 99 are my favorite offerings, live or on a disc, from The Haunted.

I’ll probably still buy this album regardless of the review, and I’ll definitely be seeing them the next time they’re in the area. I mean, it’s The Haunted, what the hell else am I supposed to do?
