Obama has pretty much all but bought the election, and the media is his accomplice. No one in the media batted an eye when the voices of the people of Florida and Michigan were thrown out in the primaries because they did not choose The One, so he basically won by default. Then at the Democratic convention they pull another unprecedented move… completely skipping the traditional delegate roll call to automatically nominate Obama in order to suppress the Clinton supporters’ dissent against nominating Obama. Over 18 million people who voted against him in the primaries silenced by the powers that be.

Then when Sarah Palin stole The One’s thunder the very next day, and the McCain ticket saw a huge spike in the polls that eventually saw them leading by the end of their convention the next week, the media went after her like they’ve never gone after anyone else before, attacking her husband, kids, digging up any kind of dirt they could, and all the while silencing and shouting down anyone who tried to do the same to their man Obama (like bringing up William Ayers, Tony Rezko, Pastor Wright, etc. etc. ad nauseum).

And then the whole financial mess comes about, and thanks to the media’s brainwashing, everyone thinks this that Bush is solely to blame for this one, when it’s been the policies of Democrats in congress like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd that have led directly to this economic collapse, but you’d never know that because the Obamedia doesn’t want you to know that. Can’t have their candidate’s party looking bad you know, so just blame it all on Bush and those eeeeeevil Rethuglicans.

Because just a week before the election, Obama is going to use the millions of dollars his buddies have raised for him to PRE-EMPT THE WORLD SERIES… and air a 30-minute political advertisement spot on ALL the major networks. He even paid off the MLB association to have them postpone the World Series’s start time an extra half hour so he could go through with this!

As for the importance of VPs, I think you might want to check again. Quayle may not have done shit (what could that illiterate shitbag do anyway?!), but Gore did quite a bit, and Cheney?? Really?? I don’t normally do much blog reading, let alone commenting, but if you like I can provide a laundry list of things Cheney has “accomplished” while in office, not to mention all his good work in the past (1974, present and active in the rise of supply-side economics! Yay!!
Plus, I scrutinize this particular VP (Palin) candidate more than most, because of concerns with McCain’s age and health (and senility!). It’s not at all out of the question that if McCain is elected, Palin COULD see herself as the acting President! AAAAAHHH!!!

I’d probably make a lousy journalist, but since I’m not one, I try to gather up as many of the facts that I can get my hands on, and make educated decisions based on the opinions I form about the candidates and the issues. So I have no reason to try to be unbiased. Anyone who is completely unbiased is obviously not paying much attention.

You seem like a pretty intelligent individual, and I’d be more than happy to talk about these issues some more with you, if you’re interested. Just don’t expect me to be too fair and balanced :)

And just because someone votes a specific way doesn’t, in any shape or form, make them a “mini-Me” of that person. I could vote the same way on some issues as Joe Lieberman, but I’m sure as hell nothing like Lieberman. That’s an invalid argument, but it seems to be used very often because it’s so easy to keep screaming it to block rationality out.

@ david – what does a VP have to do with an election at all? Last I checked, Cheney hasn’t done shit, Gore didn’t do shit, Quayle didn’t do shit. The position of the VP is a ceremonial figurehead only, so trying to dissuade people from voting for a president based on the inane argument that their VP “isn’t that good” is a bit out there. On top of that, quite a few of your factual statements were opinion (turd of a health care plan? sorry, privitization >>>>>>>>>>>> socialist healthcare programs, just ask Canada and Britain about that), so we come back down to you posing your opinion as fact and telling people to look at that as a reason as to why they should vote a specific way. I won’t even get into the wars because those are a subject in and of themselves and would be impossible to properly debate on a forum like this. As far as taxes, well, if you think Obama’s little plan wouldn’t cause more financial hardships among the lower-middle class and blue-collar workers, you’re wrong. As I said in another post, it WILL come back to bite the middle class, be it through decreased wages and benefits from their companies to balance higher business taxes, etc – there is no way the middle class is not going to have to pay for some of the largest socialist systems discussed yet.

Yeah, great, you tell people to do their own homework – but just like everyone else, you phrase it so people will inherently think worse of McCain’s side and better of Obama’s side. If research isn’t unbiased and rational, it’s as useless as not doing any research at all. I don’t support either side – Obama is an unqualified socialist running on promises that’ll never actually happen, and McCain is too much a conservative (and too much a liberal on other issues) for me to support him. I don’t give a shit who people vote for – we’re fucked either way – but I’m not going to present my case to someone about researching more, while couching everything in an anti-McCain/pro-Obama manner.

If you’re going to tell people to research on their own – great, fine, do it. But don’t toss in all the other shit you said and expect anyone to think you have an unbiased reason behind doing so.

@david: I agree with your assessment of McCain’s campaign going negative, however if the situation was reversed, and McCain was kicking Obama’s ass in the polls, you’d see the exact opposite. McCain could afford to go “positive” and Obama would get just as dirty. Obama is going Trent Dilfer to win this Super Bowl: Just don’t make a mistake and you’ll win. He doesn’t need the Hail Mary like McCain does.

I am very uncomfortable with either presidential choice at this point. I see a tax increase in my future regardless.
