HAPPY FRIDAY, HERE’S A FREE MP3 FROM IN FLAMES

Friday, October 24th, 2008 at 2:17pm by

In Flames have made the A Sense of Purpose b-side “Tilt” avail for free download. I think a lot of IF fans probably already got this track when it leaked some time back, but in case ya didn’t, here’s your chance. And it’s totally legal, so you don’t feel guilty about the download! Kinda like the reason you fly to Thailand once a year to fuck a little boy.

ANYWAY, this isn’t the greatest In Flames song ever, but I think I actually dig that pounding riff more than anything that ended up on the final version of Purpose. How about you?

In Flames – “Tilt”

In Flames are about to hit the road with All That Remains, Gojira, and 36 Crazyfists. Get tour dates here.

    Love the tag. Nice touch :)

    I definitely think Tilt, Eraser, and Abnegation were better than about half of A Sense of Purpose

    Actually I think they’re better than most of Come Clarity and Soundtrack too

    Wow, kinda brutal huh?

    I like the song is ok, but the album is very good imo.

    I think it’s a bit unfair to hate on A Sense of Purpose. Sure, they’ll never be better than pre-Clayman, and that’s mainly due to Anders and Bjorn. But the new album is hell of a lot fucking better than Come Clarity.

    Personally I like In Flames of the last 4 or 5 albums more than their early stuff but that’s just me. Don’t get me wrong I like the early stuff too but my taste leans hard to melody over brutality. Pre-Clayman IF is awesomely brutal and since then IF have been awesomely melodic. Showing skills other than playing a 1000 mph while growling is not a bad thing and it’s the reason they’ve been around for so long.

    @enemyofgod: Oh, so this is how flame wars get started! Personally I think the later stuff lacks all sense of melody. It’s just tries to be brutal. To each their own, I guess. (Obviously I prefer old In Flames.)

    @Conor
    I’ve been hearing of the “flame wars” before I became a fan. I started to get into In Flames around STYE which probably has more to do with my liking the newer work more than anything else. They’ve changed rather drastically from their start to where they are now which always separates fans, there are those there at the beginning and those that come in later. The arguments sound alot like the squabbling of Metallica fans. I like early Metallica more than what they are doing now but fans hearing Metallica for the first time in the last 10-15 years have a different opinion. It’s no different with IF or any band that has been around for a long time and has changed over time. This isn’t just an issue in metal, it’s an issue for any muscian(s) that enjoys a long career. Such controversy is a testament to IF’s longevity and I hope there around for a long time to come.

    There’s two In Flames – the old one which was amazing and this one whose songs all sound the same.

  • In Flames owns your soul

    In Flames is the best band to ever exist. period.
