CELEBRATE TUESDAY WITH NEW VIDEOS FROM MACHINE HEAD (VIA IRON MAIDEN) AND SCOTT WEILAND
Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 at 12:15pm by Vince NeilsteinWe love Machine Head and we love Iron Maiden, so naturally Machine Head covering Iron Maiden would be a good thing, right? Yes indeed. The track comes from the Maiden Heaven compilation released by Kerrang in July, which also features loads of other cool bands covering Maiden. The below video is included on The Blackening bonus edition which comes out today.
The new Weiland video comes from Happy in Galoshes, his 2nd solo record, due November 25th. I actually rather like Weiland’s solo work — 12 Bar Blues, released 10 years ago, was an exercise in completely drugged-out nonsensicalness on the level of John Frusciante’s in-between-stints-in-RHCP solo work. This song is alright; it’s definitely different from STP, and WAY different from Velvet Revolver, but it’s decidedly more focused than his first record.
Watch the vids after the jump.
Machine Head – “Hallowed be Thy Name”
Scott Weiland – “Paralysis”

But just listen to Crash by Weiland…fuck knows what the hell that is & i thought Cornell had lost his mind.

Machine Head cover: One of the best Maiden covers ever recorded.
Weiland: The song is a solid meh. The video looks as if they just followed the normal, drugged out Weiland around with a camera as he persued then banged a crack whore.
The Machine Head cover’s cool, great vocal performance by Rob Flynn in particular. Paralysis doesn’t really grab me at all.
Well the Machine Head cover speaks for itself as for Weilands’ latest foray, i thought the song was okay i just think he coulda of come up with a better video than layin’ pipe to some loose broad and contemplatively smoking butts. Didn’t he already do that like 20 times with STP?
Rob Flynn sounds bored, and i hate his rap finger point when he’s recording.
I also wish i didn’t like Machine Head’s new stuff so much, cause i cant over look that they were a wigger nu metal band.
“Hallowed” is one of my favorite Maiden songs and MH more than did it justice. I rarely listen to Maiden any more but they are one of the main reasons I started listening to metal. I bought Number of the Beast when I was like ten which led me later to Metallica, Megadeth, etc.. So to CrapMcPoopin you don’t have a clue what you are talking about, put down the crack pipe and step away from your keyboard. Wigger Nu Metal? Really!?!
As for the Weiland song, I couldn’t even listen to the whole thing. It was a horrible rendition and has no business being on an album paying tribute to one of the founders of modern metal.
