WTF!!! (shaking head) what a slap in the face to one of the biggest name in trash metal. I’m sure Max and Iggor will find this somewhat amusing and disturbing as I do.

  2. I think Sepultura have a future in lounge music if they ever decide to ditch the whole metal thing.

  3. TedTedPoleyPoley says:

Max Cavalera only *wishes* his band could star in a Volkswagen commercial. at the very least it’s good money and proof of mass appeal. in actuality Max’s only sponsor is probably Jansport, for the endorsement by that other guy in Soulfly who wears a backpack on stage

  4. slice two says:

    this isn’t sepultura. it’s crap.

  5. Rafael says:

That was just a Volkswagen commercial. It’s actually pretty funny.

  6. DBR says:

I think I’m a student of the Mitch Hedberg school of thinking that once you’ve done a tv commercial you’ve lost all credibility as an artist.

While I am a huge fan of Mitch (R.I.P.), even Lemmy’s been in commercials.

I don’t think there’s any harm as long as you’re having fun with it.
But this just left a bad taste in my mouth, probably because it’s just not Sepultura anymore, hasn’t been in a long time. But, I’ll always have Beneath the Remains (gettin’ the album cover tatted on me when I get some cash), Morbid Visions/Bestial Devastation, Chaos A.D., and Arise to bang my head to. (Still need Schizophrenia, though.)

If you are going to talk about “yawning” and “who gives a shit” about a new record from Sepultura (which I don’t agree with), you should do the same for Scott Weiand and anything he’s ever involved with!! How many chances should one “H” freak get? C’mon…

  9. Hoc says:

Yawn, they are crap why??? I’ve listened to Sepultura since Beneath the Remains, bands go through changes and most times they suck. Andreas Kisser was part of Sepultura’s sound and was very much a part of the bands evolution. He is rarely talked about , it’s Max and Igor every fucking time. Andreas is a great guitarist and song writer and put as much into this band than Max and Igor. I thought Dante XXI was a great album.

  10. Dr J says:

Man Germany is awesome. What other country would have a metal band as an endorsement?

  11. fantasyh says:

I agree. What the fuck is wrong with the commercial. If they had fun with, and it helped to keep them afloat (though I doubt they need help with that) what’s wrong with it? I actually thought it was funny.

  12. Seriously, who gives a shit about the new Sepultura album?

Because we all know that Max will is all about innovation and always experiments on his albums, straying away from thrash metal by bringing in fresh talents like Fred Durst, DJ Lethal and Corey Taylor. We love Max because he writes great lyrics, even if half of them are about tribes, and the other half is about his dead son. Already 6 albums, and I still can’t get enough, I want to sing along to even more songs about tribes standing up the man.
And Sepultura, what’s their problem? Who in their right mind records a concept album? Concept albums are for pussies. What crawled up their asses, thinking they’re all intellectual and shit? Seriously, Sepultura without Max or Igor? That’s just Fakepultura! And who gave them the right to try a new sound? Everyone knows that you only succeed if you record the same goddamn fucking album over and over again. Just ask Max, he’ll agree.

Volkswagons are metal? I thought they had plastic covers?

  14. Rohit says:

    @ DBR

I’m guessing you’ve never seen the History Channel commercial with Suffocation

  15. Dr J says:

holy shit serves me right for not watching educational tv.

  16. ryan says:

…axl forgot about this cell phone commercial with several electronic artists including mixhell mixhell (who feature igor cavalera). i’m sure the cavaleras wouldn’t care about the commercial specifically. igor’s done it before and max has a good sense of humor…they care more about the fact that “their” band name is being used without their input whatsoever.

  17. Stephen says:

That was not German inthe commercial, it was Portugese. I don’t think it was a commercial from Germany.

  18. seveword says:

I’m gonna take the hit for all of us and choose not to watch the clip. You can thank me later.

  20. DBR says:

    @Rohit

I do love that Suffocation commercial and I’ve seen it before.

I suppose I’ve made an exception for that one simply because it’s a commercial for an educational tv program instead of for a consumer good.

  21. Dude. It’s a concept album based on ‘A Clockwork Orange’.
    Read Hoc’s post.

  22. Nickmeister says:

    @ teaches of peaches

    1. I’m sorry but since when is innovation playing the same riff all the time?

    2. What’s wrong with a concept album? You’re not justifying anything with “it’s for pussies”, in my eyes that makes you look like a dumbass… Even Fear Factory wrote Obsolete as a concept album, and that was br00tal

    3. Who gave them the right to try a new sound? I don’t know, but who gave you the right to comment about it? You’ll find the answer is the same to both questions

But yeah, that’s just me on a rant there.

Volkswagen have major buissness in Brazil (they have one of the biggest car factories of South America there). I think it’s pretty cool that they have such a big recognition being a metal band in a country known for samba, parties, soccer and other things that are not always metal related.
