TEXTURES CONQUER THEIR AQUAPHOBIA IN NEW VIDEO
Friday, October 31st, 2008 at 12:45pm by Vince NeilsteinTextures have released a breathtaking (metal!) new video for “Awake,” from their breathtaking (yeah!) new album Silhouettes, likely to rank in both mine and Kip’s year-end Top Ten. As MS Maniac Scott R. says about the video, “unless you have an irrational fear of water, its pretty damn good.” According to a press release, the band was able to make the video exactly as they wanted without budget restriction, “thanks to a generous grant from the Dutch TAX funds – an incentive from the Dutch Government to assist up-and-coming Dutch artists with audio/visual output.” How come the American government doesn’t donate money for awesome metal videos like this one? Come on Messiah Obama, make it happen!
Will someone get this fucking band on the road in the U.S. Already so Kip and I can satiate our raging hard-ons?

Is it just me, or does this guy’s voice sound significantly similar to Devin Townsend?
i hope you get to see them soon, because they are simply amazing live. looked like they were having a lot of fun, great stagepresence. and all the clean vocals were spot on, not all bands can do that in these pro-tools days…
M.A.N. (who opened the show) were awful though:)
fucking epic
I confess i’d never heard these guys.
This song made me quite interested.
These guys may sound original to the untrained ear but they -and especially this song- are a mediocre Devin Townsend/Meshuggah ripoff.
I think he sounds like a cross between Devin Townsend and Maynard James Keenan.
They sound a lot like Devin Townsend band…. but may I just put out there… this is the SOFTEST song on the album. Don’t let this track sway you.
and b… i mean v… LOVE that you love this band.
Never heard of these guys until I read the review from vn. I went and downloaded a couple songs and liked it right away. Definately has a Meshuggah feel, but I like the vocals better. To “dont panic,” my ears are not untrained, been listening to metal for over 20 years. You can label every band as a slight ripoff of someone else. But if your head starts bobbin and you feel that feeling, most true metal fans can get, then its worth listening too. Stop trying to analyze it so much, just listen and feel.
breathtaking!!!I love this band and I love even more this blog, cause it made me discover them. and… “dont panic” hahahaha what a douchbag
Awesome video, awesome album, awesome band.
Saw them play a scantly-attended show last year where they were on the same bill as Misery Signals. If you really need to be convinced that it ruled, let me tell you this: it ruled HARD.
