THIS FEBRUARY, FEEL LAMB OF GOD’S WRATH

Monday, November 3rd, 2008 at 10:47am by Axl Rosenberg

I think I just came up with the stupid tagline for Lamb of God’s new album. Epic, you can make the check payable to MetalSucks. Thanks.

ANYWAY, Lamb of God’s new album, the imposingly titled Wrath, now has an official release date of February 24, 2009. There’s still no track listing.

In a statement, drummer/mouthpiece Chris Adler said, “Hype hype hype hype, heaviest album ever, hype hype hype, February 24.”

Wrath seems like a kind of clichéd title for a metal album, but it’s Lamb of God, so I’m inclined not to criticize.

It also seems like the title for an album which is really heavy. Maybe the band made the record with the fans who thought Sacrament was too soft in mind. I tend to think that those fans are out of their freakin’ minds, but whatevs.

Presumably we’ll now be inundated with Lamb of God news from now ’til February…

  1. Plabebob says:

woohoo! I could put up with LoG news till Feb I reckon!

  2. Tim says:

in the newest issue of guitar world magazine, mark morton says this about the new album,

“Sonically, we go to a lot of interesting places on this record, but the word that keeps coming to my mind is ‘thrash’” and “this time there’s a real big Bay Area thrash influence that’s pretty undeniable to me”

which makes me really happy and excited!

  3. Jesse says:

Is is possible for Lamb of God to make something that doesn’t make your ears bleed out of sheer enjoyment?

I would have absolutely no problem hearing about them every day for the next 3 months.

  4. Alec29 says:

I’ve got a feeling that this is going to be an incredible CD. Can’t wait til Feb to feel the Wrath!!

  5. muzikwhore says:

    Chris, We need more cowbell!!……

  6. Dr J says:

Mastodon and Lamb of God? 2009 is going to be an incredible year for metal.

  7. Wayne says:

    I agree, Dr. J.
“Crack the Skye” and “Wrath” are going to start ‘09 off RIGHT.

  8. Gump says:

Probably make the rest of the year seem bland though.

    Which Bay Area band though??

  9. palinaborted says:

Two words. Fuck yes. That is all.

  10. tech support says:

when did the operation manuals of hooking up a digital box become effective design work?

  11. Ryan M. says:

Can’t wait. Sacrament was good, but not great like Ashes. This should be a return to form, judging by the title and Adler’s comments. Not sure what to think about the “bay area” influence. Don’t get me wrong, I love old school Metallica/Megadeth, but I usually turn to LOG for my tech/groove metal fix. Make iit kick ass, fellas.

  12. ClosetMetalHead says:

It won’t be easy to top Ashes of the Wake, while it should be relatively easy to top Sacrament. Sacrament is good, but not great.

Ashes > As the Palaces Burn > Sacrament

I’m not sure where NAG fits in.

PS: Old Mans Child finished work on their new album.

  13. Anon says:

Dr J and Wayne, stole the words right from my mouth. Even though the rest of the year MAY be bland and ‘meh,’ two new albums from two monster bands should suffice for ages to come.

Closet M.H. Honestly, I love the trashy sound of NAG. It tops the other in my list, but I do spin the hell out the other three. Terror and Hubris in the House of Frank Polard has to be the greatest song ever.

  14. DannE says:

2008 wasn’t that earth-shattering of a release year for established artists, hopefully LOG and Mastodon will make my ears bleed.

  15. IHEARTLAMBOFGOD says:

    Ashes>Sacrament>Palaces>NAG
Hopefully Wrath will be > than them all.
I fuckin love these guys, can’t wait, but the Walk with me in hell DVD is tiding me over nicely.

  16. The Mighty Fucking Quinn says:

How is it that everyone keeps failing to consider the new God Forbid when talking about amazing shit in store for 09?

And for the record – As the Palaces Burn>Ashes of the Wake Sacrament combined.

  17. groverXIII says:

I wish someone would remaster As the Palaces Burn… it has their best songs, but the production is fucking terrible. It’s all so flat and midrange-y. Still, sounds like it’ll be good. I’m all a-tingle waiting for it.

  18. enemyofgod72 says:

Since I know LoG are pretty big Megadeth fans maybe the new album will sound like their version of Holy Wars. I could live with that.

  19. Dr J says:

The production o A the Palaces Burn really was a disgrace, up there with Death Magnetic IMO.

  20. Walker says:

Mastodon, LOG, God Forbid, Chimaria, and I thought I heard Primus a possibility too for next year.

  21. Kev says:

    Siiiiiick. Nuff said.
But I’m not gonna stop there lol
I really don’t understand why more people don’t praise sacrament for what it is. If any other band released it the same people would be cumming on their keyboards to it. Meh, as long as they admit its good, then I don’t mind haha.

Is Chimaira releasing a new album? Sweeet.

  22. dalenkwint says:

For 2009 so far i think everyone left our SLAYER. Ha. Their new song sounds like Slayer… Anyway I may as well list the shit like everyone else. God Forbid should be good. Honestly I am kinda worried, I can’t seem to get into Empire of the Gun like i can get into pretty much any other God Forbid song from any of their albums. I’ll give it time. Lamb of God… I’ll have to wait and see. From what I read they are writing the music I’d like to hear. Mastodon… they are quite an interesting band, I’m looking forward to that too.

Psst: I think I heard someone from DevilDriver mutter something about a record for 2009 recently. I’m not too sure from where. Look it up, I wont.

  23. nigga please says:

    Band still sucks.

  24. GBR says:

    OH FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  25. GBR says:

    To nigga please-OH FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Some guy says:

Are you people retarted? Lamb of God is probably one of the best bands out there. And why dont you devote a site to music you like rather than wasting your energy on not appreciating good musicians. Also, what hype? I believe Chris said “”This album is going to surprise a lot of people,” comments drummer Chris Adler. “Typically bands that get to where we are in our career begin to slack off, smell the roses and regurgitate. We chose a different path. No one wants to hear another band member hyping a new record. WRATH needs no hype. We have topped ourselves and on February 24th you will feel it.” …thats right from the website, so way to put false info up you dumbass, atleast criticize music with the right facts before you embarass yourself, also please refrain from wearing your seatbelt while you drive.

  27. Murderface says:

3 months doesnt seem that long but man the more i think about it the longer it seems. If its better than As the palace burns then man your going to be bleeding from eyes, ears, and mouth.

  28. Dewfather says:

Finally groverXIII, someone agrees that Palaces should be remastered. Can we get Andy Sneap to get the job done? The man salvaged Nevermore’s Enemies of Reality and did an incredible job with Testament’s comeback Formation of Damnation. Palaces is one of those masterful works of metal that deserves the polish.

  29. Wayne says:

I agree with groverXIII and Dewfather. Palaces is a great record, but it sounds like crap. I always assume it was just the copy I had, but I guess that’s not the case.

  30. Shahir Potter says:

chris! gimme a gravity blast beat!
    ha,ha!

  31. Shahir Potter says:

To nigga please – u bullshittin diz bl0g! fuck y0u!!!!

  32. tim says:

man if you knew anything about the album is said chris adler feels this album needs know hype do u know how most musicians evolve? look at the last song the made an extra nail for your coffin/another nail for your coffin the ending of the song is a beatiful guitar lead exucted smoothly and very epic if anything wrath would transform metal again i hope lamb of god will add some of there unique influences to this album look up the deffinition of wrath, wrath means vengeance or punishment as the consequence of anger. if you wanna interpret it anyway that would seem almost christian like wrathful god hell send his wrath down and smite you go listen to a beatnick band

  33. as the sky turns red says:

okay first of all nigga please can go die in a pit with big spikes cus he obviously doesnt know the first thing about LOG. They have great sync with eachother and yes i do agree that palaces does need to be remastered but nontheless is still a great cd, and yes 2009 will be a year for the METAL

  34. as the sky turns red says:

oh yea one more thing…. nigga please FUCK YOU AND GET A LIFE

  35. zachstaska says:

you’re a fucking idiot. In a statment by Chris Adler, “Typically bands that get to where we are in our career begin to slack off, smell the roses and regurgitate. We chose a different path. No one wants to hear another band member hyping a new record. WRATH needs no hype.”

    dolt.
It comes out on a sunday, which means I’m going to be the first mother fucker in the mall getting that album. I can’t fucking wiat.

  36. zachstaska says:

and to IHEARTLAMBOFGOD, maybe you should reconsider your name. I’m sure you “heart” them, but your opinion on there CDs is inane. Ashes is easily high up there, however in my musicaly technical opinion, the order shouold go
    NAG>AOTW>Sacrament>ATPB
    BECAUSE:
NAG showed the most talent that Lamb Of GOd has ever displayed. They do the unthinkable, which is to say they play everything insanley heavy and fast without taking away from the overall sound of the songs in any way.
AOTW showed a much more technical view. The music obvioulsy took more time, and there was an obvious growth in Randy’s vocals. they were all able to do much more.
Sacrament simply showed a mature side of them without really taking away from being Lamb Of God, which is hard to do.
Whil Burn was a great CD it was much more gritty and almost showed less involvement than the other 3 CDs.

  37. RAT says:

YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES! OOOOOoooo did I say YES!

  38. Kevin says:

Last night I went to Lamb of God’s concert in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. And they played 2 new songs from Wrath!!!! The 2 names were Dead seeds ( a song about aboriginals, no joke ) and their second song was Fake Messiah.

Dead seed = amazing song, really heavy, awesome chorus ( what else to expect from LoG)

Fake Messiah = really good, pretty damn good chorus, and heavy.

  39. HellCat says:

Well…anyone that likes metal who says Lamb of God sucks is either a liar or a hater in denial, so take all that crap with a grain of salt.

I drove out to Tucson from Phoenix, AZ to see them on the 17th…I heard 3 of the new songs…VERY new, VERY different, VERY Lamb of God, and VERY VERY VERY kick ass. I think this record will be like all the rest…you’ll struggle to pick a favorite track and you’ll rock the fuck out the ENTIRE time, lol.

    And my personal order preference:

Ashes>Sacrament>NAG>ATPB…reason? The band’s ability to tighten up and really express each individual piece as well as the whole musically. Besides…any guitarist out there should agree that Ashes is fun as all HELL to play ;)

  40. Unky Wunky says:

Heard one of LOGs new songs on the radio, unedited since they have not yet made a radio friendly version. :P New song’s called “Contractor”, it’s super ultra heavy so check it out.

  41. Unky Wunky says:

Also “Set to Fail” is another new song, haven’t heard it yet but it sounds pretty sweet. By the way Kevin, “Dead Seed” is a fucking awesome song!!!

  42. Me says:

You fucking cretin. If you have nothing extremely awesome to say about Lamb of God then no one that still retains both of their testicles wants to hear it. Go sand blast your face or something.

  43. nick says:

wtf is this site hahahahaha. metal fucking owns! cant wait for the CD to come out! \m/ >< \m/

  44. nick says:

and btw, fuck this site. you fail @ life. if you cant handle Sacrement, you are a vagina.

  45. tyler says:

all u guys r fucks, u probly dont know metal like i do i am 36 years old and went to 15 metallica conserts, 10 pantera, 11 megadeth, and 7 slayer. i know fucking everything bout metal so all u can suck my enormous COCK!!!!!

  51. Richy says:

Yo, I bought the wrath album yesterday. Its nutz. Its out in Australia already.
    Metallica suck

  52. John says:

I just heard the new album on their myspace. May I ask what the point of this album is? To be heavier? to visit new places musically? to be more thrashy?

It achieves none of these objectives – very generic and predictable overall; nothing new or fresh to see here. I’m quite dissapointed, considering how bold the direction on the sacrament album was, I expected more than a generic immitation of their own music.

  53. Troy says:

Sacrament, bold?!?!?! What the hell r u talking about??? Sacrament was the same old thing all of us have heard b4, “Less heavy, more melody”. Oh, he can sing? Who cares! We just want some heavy ass shit to thrash to cuz thats wut metal is all about! Walk With Me In Hell was about the only oldskool LOG on the Sacrament album and if u dont believe that, then your the fuckin redneck!!!

  54. Dana says:

All of you guys bashing metal are a bunch of tender fucks. Metal is best fuckin music out there period. And to criticise a band like Lamb of God…unbelievable. Who the fuck would make a website strictly for the purpose of bashing metal. Go and lsiten to your John Mayer faggot shit. Long Live Metal!

  55. Troy says:

Wow……another complete dumbass! SuperFag Dana doesn’t even read the posts lmao

  56. Timmy says:

you soft cock metalcore pansies. LOG is for slipknot fans not metalheads, and you KNOW this.

  57. Nazi says:

    HAIL HITLER!
    1488

  58. robin says:

    LOG becomes a Profit-making ASS…
I am shocked after listening Wrath…It sounds like that some one pushes a hot rod through randy’s ASS and he was shouting like a fucking ass hole animal

    Review of Wrath….!!!

So God damn easy to write this
you make it spill off the page
    So drunk on yourself, self-righteous
A laughing stock of your own fucking stage

    This is a mothersuckin’ shit
The only one you could ever get…

    Shame on LOG…
