As far as I can tell, they’re just the same bullshit instructional videos that musicians have been releasing for years and that .001% of the population actually buys. Marketing-wise, I can’t tell if it’s a good idea or a terrible idea to launch the series by releasing new DVDs with Duff McKagan, Munky, Fieldy, John 5, Paul Gray, Blasko, Tommy Clufetos, Shannon Larkin, Mike Inez, Ringo Starr, Max Weinberg, The Captain and Tennille, Vanilla Ice, Tupac Shakur, Frankenstein’s Monster, Elliot Gould, Murderface, Bob Loblaw, Dick Cavett, Joey Fatone, and Rerun from Good Times all at once. But it’s happening.
In any case, we haven’t received a single press release about these DVDs here at the MetalSucks Mansion. So whomever is sending out said press releases obviously isn’t cool.

thats funny you posted this. i just ran across an ad for these in guitar world magazine and was wondering what the hell they were and if anyone would really buy one. i had never seen or heard of them before

We are producing these DVDs because we agree that all the instructional videos out there are total shit and thought it would be cool if kids could learn to play their favorite songs right from the guys who wrote and/or recorded them…We hope to eventually shoot titles with pretty much every relevant musician out there. You might not think all of them are cool – but opinions are like assholes – everyone has one…
Feel free to bag on them, but these DVDs definitely aren’t the same “bullshit instructional videos” that have been around before – we’ll mail you some so you can judge for yourself…We also just sent a press release to your info[at]metalsucks.net – sorry about the oversight, but we’re just a small independent team and have been swamped releasing the first dozen titles and trying desperately to get ReRun’s agent to let us shoot a title with him for the next batch.

This is great PR, responding in a blog comment. It got me to check out your website, which I probably wouldn’t have done otherwise. Unfortunately at this time there doesn’t seem to be much of a selection for metal guitarists, but please inform the boys at MetalSucks if this changes, and I’m sure they’ll pass the message on to us all.
Get some technical death metal and some progressive metal guitarists on your lineup! =)
Are they really doing a Vanilla Ice video? That would be freaking sweet.
We’ve already shot Dimmu Borgir, and are starting to edit. We got both guitarists and they kicked alotta ass. Anybody heard of Dimmu?
Vanilla Ice turned us down, but we’re in negotiations with Rico Suave…
