A RANDOM THOUGHT ABOUT KORN’S LOGO

So yesterday I posted the Completely Unreadable Band Logo of the Week, as I’m prone to do, and readers’ entries started pouring into my inbox, as was bound to happen.
And someone guessed that the band logo in question belonged to Korn.
At least once a week, someone guesses “Korn” or “Slipknot” or “Atreyu.” This baffles me to no end for the following reasons:
- Korn, Slipknkot, and Atreyu all have very readable logos.
- Presumably the people who guess these bands are familiar with their respective logos and should therefore feel pretty confident that, no, that logo they are currently trying to read does not belong to Korn, Slipknot, or Atreyu.
ANYWAY, this all got me thinking about Korn’s logo, and how monumentally stupid and un-metal it is. I mean, it has a backwards letter “r.” You know who else uses a backwards letter “r?”
So, there you have it. A completely random thought about Korn’s logo.

You mean you don’t think it’s hilarious that people guess Korn and Slipknot? I thought that was a sure fire knee slapper if there ever was one.
This one time when i took a crap, i looked in the bowl and sure enough, it spelt ‘Slipknot’. that’s how shitty they are.
Oh I chuckled plenty but I was hoping for more, but I guess that why it was just a random though and not a full blown essay on the matter.
I just always gets my hopes up.

Axl, here’s my random thought about your random thought: You’re obsessed over Korn the way evangelicals are way too concerned with homosexuals. I always suspect they are hiding some repressed homosexual feelings and using their bully pulpit to mask their hidden desires.

I don’t know if you noticed, but not only is the “R” backwards, but “corn” does not have a “K” in it. Furthermore, either “Korn” or “Corn” is a ridiculously stupid name for a band. It is, however, delicious.
I saw a dude at the Warped Tour in ‘01 with that logo tattooed on his neck, we laughed at him for an hour. So far, nothing I’ve seen has ever topped it.
I’d just like to point out that TOOL starts with “TO”.
Do you know what else starts with “TO”?

During this past CMJ I met a fella who went by the name Korn, His ID even had Korn down as his name except the R was not backwards.
I had Korn in my poop this morning.

um wow i actually know the answer to this. KORN (with backward R) were the call letters (like KNAC) of the radio station on the horrid redneck variety show Hee Haw.
Buck Owens was the house band on Hee Haw, and among the ranks of Owens’ band is Jonathan Davis’ dad or uncle or something.
Also, later in life, Owens bought radio KUZZ in Bakersfield, CA, home to Korn HQ.

I understand Korn are not the most talented hand full of musicians but give me a break. I’m so sick of seeing comments like “Korn is sooo not metal”. Who gives a damn? Something HAS to be metal or you won’t listen to it? Learn to think for yourself. Listen to whatever you want and if people give you shit for it, so fucking what? If you honestly don’t like a band, that’s fine…but saying “they aren’t metal so they suck” is just plain close minded. I completely agree with Anthony when he says if Gojira had a backwards R in their name, you people would be drooling about it because they are “sooo metal.” Bias queers.
