SO… CHINESE DEMOCRACY HAS LEAKED

The most anticipated leak since, well, the last time songs from Chinese Democracy leaked, has hit the Internet. Only this time it’s the whole, final, mixed, mastered shebang (albeit in 128kbps MP3s), 6 days ahead of its official release. If you’ve got Google and a brain you should know how to find this, and if you can’t find it this minute just wait until later today — it’ll surely be all over. I wonder if sites like rapidshare, sendspace, megaupload and their ilk will actually notice an uptick in traffic today due to the “Chinese Democracy effect?” I’d say it’s likely. And no, we won’t post a link, so don’t ask.

To those who have it already: thoughts?

Axl definitely enjoys playing the piano, however I think “oh my god” which originally got released on the end of days soundtrack is still the best song on the album.

  2. gum says:

It sounds like they left a lot of Buckethead’s parts on there or Axl did what he did with Freese/Brain and have someone he likes better re-record the parts note for note.

A lot of the simple wah rhythm stuff is trademark Buckethead along with the lead runs in the middle of Better.

  3. noyokono says:

I like the part where it goes”weeeaaaahhh waowwwh wickety waaaaaaowwwwwh”.

  4. Sammy says:

I wonder how much of this album sounds like someone in 2004 trying to replicate something someone else played in 1995? Oh, you say that’s exactly what this album is? Huh. Never woulda thought that.

Layne Staley ODs and Darrel Abbott, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Randy Rhodes die horrible deaths and Axl Rose lives. God is very cruel sometimes.

  5. miguel_g says:

Haven’t heard the leak yet, but if “oh my god” is the best song of the whole album, that album sucks really bad!

  6. Kye says:

To bad the original uploader was a fuckbag and thought that music sounds good at a 128 bitrate, so now all the higher quality bitrate leaks are just transcodes of his original rip.

Oh well, it’s only a matter of time until someone who doesn’t enjoy muddy sound uploads it somewhere.

I suppose I could just buy it…but a case of Dr. Pepper is cheaper.

  7. blah says:

there is a legit V0 rip out now

  8. Wigeke says:

It’s actually awesome, bumblefoot made some pretty nice additions to the rhytm of almost every song, the mixing is pretty good, the songs are epic, it’s way more than what I was expecting, beats the hell out of any velvet revolver record any day.

  9. Cam says:

“Oh my God” isn’t on the album, Itunes has the track listing up.

  10. pdf says:

I’ve been listening to it for a week or so on one of those Play MPE players that labels use to stream new releases. I like it a lot.

  11. palinaborted says:

After listening to this album I can now conclude that my original notions of irrelevancy stand true. Axl Rose and the name “Guns N Roses” is no longer relevant in today’s music scene and he should politely retire his Irish dreads into the sweet bliss of yesteryear.

  12. Cory says:

It’s not the trainwreck I was anticipating.

That being said however, it’s extremely overproduced. Axl seems to have this notion that Powerman 5000/Orgy style industrial rock still has relevance is music today, and tries to base his production off of that sound. Axl, it’s not 1996 anymore, Industrial Rock (aside from Nine Inch Nails, who REINVENT their sound) has lost its relevance.

  13. dthrasher says:

If you are a person who doesn’t give a shit about what Guns and Roses has done in the past, like myself who was just a wee little child during their heyday, then this is a pretty good cd. The addition of guitarists like bumblefoot and buckethead really adds to the originality in the music and Axl still has a decent set of pipes. It has some really catchy parts and some corny crap, no surprises there since its targeted at big sales. Overall I’m happy with it and its definitely the best “major” album that has come out this year imo in comparison to like metallica or slipknot.

  14. benny says:

Good album. Curious to see what effect this has for the future of Guns N’ Roses.

  15. The Overlord says:

It’s almost good enough to justify waiting 17 years for. Almost.

  16. mcguiness says:

I like it too. If you just listen to it, independant of all the bullshit behind it, then i don’t think you can say it’s a bad album, however much you’d like too.

It ain’t perfect, but it’s as close to it as rock gets these days. If bands that have been around since the 80s are going to keep making music, then i’d much rather them try and make it different, rather than aiming to re-create an album they made 20 years ago (like AC/DC and Metallica). In that respect fair play to people like Axl, Maiden and Judas Priest (Nostradamus sucked, but atleast they tried).

  17. Luke says:

Man I can believe what Im reading, this album completly SUCKED!!!

    17 w8ing for this Sh*t?? F*CK Guns n´ Roses

  18. Jeff DanyLektro says:

It’s not the production quality that sucked the enjoyment out of this album for me.
It’s not the cover art and attempt to redesign their image that sucked the enjoyment out of this album for me.
It’s not the bullshit that sucked the enjoyment out of this album for me.
It’s not the regular crap that you’d expect to make such a highly anticipated album bad that sucked the enjoyment out of this album for me.
It’s the album. When the first single streamed, I was excited and gave it a listen. I wasn’t all that disappointed (but then again, I had to keep the volume low as I was at work). When the album leaked, I heard right away and gave it a download.
Needless to say, I didn’t keep that download.

    It’s just not very good..

  19. earth2tom says:

Yeah, this has got be one of the worst illegal downloads I have ever wasted bandwidth on. Can we get someone to leak some more new Slayer songs? Hell, Slayer are like 10 years older than GnR and not only have they maintained their relavance, but they have built upon it with each successive album. Arguably, Slayer have never released a bad album and before today I could have said that same about GnR. But what did we expect, Axl is not GnR and he never was. Axl’s vocals were only what they were because of Slash and the rest the group.

  20. La Verga de Dios says:

This album is good, no great, no awesome, just good. I like it. And Slayer is today the most boring thrash metal band of the world by the way….and I love Thrash!

  21. Jerry says:

Only one guy can carry a tune played by Backethead, with a La-La La-La La singing vocals.

  22. Ston says:

its better than VR and the new Metallica
