SATURDAY SONG TO GET STONED TO: BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME – “WHITE WALLS”

Saturday, December 13th, 2008 at 1:38pm by

This, the final track off my #1 album of 2007, blows my frickin’ mind every time. Where the fuckin FUCK can this band go from here?!? I for one expect a great deal from BTBAM’s next offering, and can’t wait to see these dudes on a serious headlining tour, even bigger than the halloween show me and my broken shoulder attended (when I almost drunkenly/stupidly rampaged the pit). Not that supporting Opeth n Dream Theater is a bad gig…

In any case, this is an epic one, long n proggy as shit…just the way we like ‘em

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME – “White Walls”, from Colors (2007)

Hmmm…me wonder who’s me’ll pick for #1 this year? Tune in on Monday for all the gory detailzzz…

  • Kosmas

    Absolutely amazing song & band.
I listen the whole album every time I listen to it.Not only a song or two.

  • Malacoda

I absolutely agree with Kosmas. The whole album is really one hour long epic song. It works for anything you’re doing, work, stoning, etc. It’s perfect.

  • Ryd1ZZ

This is one of my favorite tracks from Colors. I also agree with Kosmas about listening to the whole cd. It just flows so perfectly you can’t stop once it’s been started. Terrific album!

  • Badunkadunk

My money’s on The Way of all Flesh.

Still not a fan of “Colors”. I’m pretty sure I can come up with better songs that.

    than that*

  • http://terminalpress.com finalplanet

This is one of my favorite songs ever. I waited on line at Hammerstein for an hour last time they played and came in as they were playing the last 30 seconds. I couldn’t have been more disappointed.

    @ Shanetera
Ok then. Do it. I’d like to hear them. I think we all would.

  • Adam

Is it bad that this song is the only one I listen to off the entire record? I don’t think anything else on the album is as good as this song.

  • hackman

    again @ shanetera

i hope you die in a grease fire. i could talk about colors for days but there’s too much to say. it’s some of the most mind-blowing musical composition of our generation and white walls is its crowning achievement, and almost for sure my FAVORITE SONG OF ALL-TIME (that is, if it even counts as a song, immersed in the real song, colors). first time i heard it, yes, i was stoned, and yes, i cried and not afraid to admit it.

“this is all we have when we die”

  • Seth

Veridian into white walls may be the greatest build up to get stoned to ever. Thanks to MS.com for finally recognizing this stoner masterpiece…

FUCK being a stoner…this is brilliant music. I saw BTBAM, Opeth, and Dream Theatre at the Orpheum in Boston and BTBAM only got to play for 20 mins. Sickly under-appreciated…they literally got cut off by the staff.

They played Alaska, and then they JAMMED on White Walls for about 15 mins. I almost pooped myself. I’ve never been that moved at a live show before.

When you combine the top level of musicianship with with top level of songwriting and inventiveness…well then you get a band that i respect and love.

I have been part of a massive “deathcore” debate on this site…there is no debate here…BTBAM are unique and special. I will do nothing but support this band for as long as I listen to music.

  • Devin

This is one of the most amazing metal albums I have ever listened to. BTBAM is also my favorite band, and Paul Waggoner is also my favorite guitarist. I saw them perform Colors in it’s entirety at the Soma in San Diego. It was amazing.

  • Ryd1ZZ

Devin, I was at that show too, fucking 5 star performers.

  • Frank

Saw them on the Colors tour here in Orlando at The Social (small ass club). I’d seen them 2 times before that (with Dragonforce, and with Bleeding through) but there was just something about the way they ripped through this album……only stop was like 30 seconds to say hi to the crowd before Informal Glutony…I just stood there. It was amazing. And how their drummer lasted playing this shit for 70 minutes straight with no breaks every night is nothing short of godly.

  • Tim

I was really really hesitant to pick this album up (I hadn’t heard any BTBAM and it was coming from victory records), but it was getting great reviews from some serious metal people. I’m glad I bought it. “White Walls” is a great song.

  • sevenstring

White Walls is the pinnacle of one of the best metal albums of this decade. I listened to this entire album at least once a day at work for about 4 months straight.

@Shanetera: That song is decent but in no way compares to white walls.

  • Conduit#bongloads

How retarded, way to compare BTBAM and Coalesce for no reason. No one can be compared to Coalesce.

  • tommygunnakickyourass

yeah seriously the only band that you can really compare BTBAM to at all is Cynic, and even then the comparison only really works in reference to certain elements of their songs. It’s a shame their on victory though.

  • http://citadelbloodbeard.blogspot.com/ Shanetera

You’re right guys, Coalesce is retarded good it’s hard to compare them to anyone.

  • Sam Barsi

    phenomenal album
    speaking in phenomenal
Yesterday i went to the serpent son’s comeback show in peoria illinois
and they packed 550 people in a venue meant for 200
Metal sucks should definitely look into them
their drummer subbed for as blood runs black for a while
but the serpent son I would say even is beyond them

  • Ryan

Great, great song. Love this album.

  • http://newghosts.com Shnaz

Awesome record—and this is the best song on it!

  • Brandon

This album sounds just as amazing the 1000th time hearing as the 1st. I believe COLORS will stand the test of time and become one of the few musical masterpieces of our generation.
