Considering, that any time now, we may be living in a world without a “rock band” iteration of NIN I am going to take every and any chance I can get to enjoy it while it lasts. He’s a great drummer(and lostprophet’s early stuff was pretty decent) so I can’t complain about this.

The chord changes in some of the The New Regime tunes are anything but typical; influenced more by classical composers than Muse. As for song structure, some have “breakdowns”, “middle eights” or whatever you want to call them, and some don’t. The harmony structures are anything but typical or simple. If the music doesn’t inspire you because it falls short of Bellamy, York, or whomever you want to compare it to, well then you’ll never be satisfied because those guys are who they are and they are amazing. But I’m sure you’ll find some moron who thinks along the lines that you do and who will say that Bellamy and York are cheap imitations of Buckley. Rubin’s music is anything but typical and if you listen carefully to the actual chord changes, the harmony structures, and the simplistic complexity of his leads you’ll understand why the record has gotten some pretty decent reviews.

Are you kidding me? I give the guy props for playing everything but this is some seriously un-inspired music. It has really typical changes and song structure. Nothing to write about. Muse does some amazing things and the music is beautiful at times and heavy/groovy at others. The New Regime stuff falls flat. Similar to Muse yes. But more like a lame cover band of Muse. Be influenced by a band…dont copy them cause they will always be better at what they do and you will be your lame copy.

Too poppy and buttrocky for me.

Some people are players, not songwriters.

Amazing drummer stuck in a terrible band syndrome? Probably more common than I think, and word to the Muse drop. I’m so tired of Radiohead comparisons, and with their live show being so great I’m surprised they get the browneye from what seems like everyone.
