The singer got all pissed and trashed the audience between every song for not moving around enough to their “funky-fresh beatz”, yo; and then had the balls to ask for people to give him drugs after the show.     If none of this strikes you as music from an engaging, creative, original rock band, you know absolutely nothing about music. At all. Anyone bashing Hed PE is likely a sad loser who’s upset that Hed PE has a massive following and makes a lot of money. A sad loser who plays in a emo band and thinks that Linkin Park is the pinnacle of musical achievement. A sad loser who has NEVER known what good music is.

This is supposed to be a real metal site about real metal, then put some fucking metal on the site, bitches. Stop complaining that an innovative punk band that is more respected and liked than any of you ever will be is “outdated by 10 years”, “unoriginal and untalented”, because it’s wrong. The only people who would ever call Hed PE unoriginal, untalented and outdated are the people who think that All-American Rejects and Fall Out Boy are punk rock.

    Hed PE, in fact, IS original. They successfully mix punk, hardcore, hip hop, funk, reggae, and occasionally a little metal. They have been doing this since 1994. They released their first album in 1995. Shortly after, they had material out on Jive Records. They had an LP out in 1997. Their albums have been wildly experimental touching on every genre from classic rock to thrash. You do not think that they are original because you do not know ANYTHING about music.

    Listen to the music. It’s punk rock, combined with soul, funk, rap, reggae, occasional jazz and a little metal, but certainly not nu-metal, because the guitarist plays more than four chords and there are solos on many of their albums.

    One should not talk about anything being “embarrassing” when he’s bashing a band with a black singer while posting with a username that has a racial slur in it.

    I used to like the first two hed(pe) records, but after that they got super, super shitty. Plus, I think the last time I listened to them I was like 19, so I’m not sure that I’m still into them. I do, however, love the fact that they are on Suburban Noize records. The label that ultra-ball-cheese-tastic rap group Kottonmouth Kings founded. If you are on that label, life has handed you a great big fail.

    Suburban Noize is one of the best punk labels out there. D.I., Mondo Generator, Unwritten Law, X-Clan. All great bands.

    The label was founded by Humble Gods, not Kottonmouth Kings.

    KMK make some really fun music. Good old Cypress Hill/Beastie Boys-kind of stuff.

    Tech N9ne, a respected rapper, frequently collaborates with Hed PE and Kottonmouth Kings.

Didn’t most of those bands’ first albums come out in 1994 or before that? I seem to remember that. So, that means that all these bands in the same state (California btw(a lot of them in the same city/ county)) started out before hed P.E. I’m not gonna waste my time looking it up because even if I was wrong, I don’t even care, it doesn’t matter. It only means that hed P.E. started rap, nu, metal All you fans of this craptastic band aren’t gonna get any converts on a site that prides itself on covering true and real metal.     They OCCASIONALLY mix punk with metal, but that doesn’t make them a metal band. Are Bad Brains metal? No. Are Slayer a punk band? No, they are thrash.

    Hed PE are punk rock.

    Hed PE started out in 1994, months before Korn released their first album. They have nothing to do with any of the nu-metal groups, aside from the fact that they were occasionally put on the same bill. That means nothing. If Rage Against the Machine tours with Alanis Morissette, that does not mean that they are in the same genre.

    I’m no suburbanite, nor am I a “nostalgic idiot”. I’ve been a music fan since the day I was born, and this is one of the most creative and original bands I’ve ever come across. There is NOTHING like Hed PE.

I don’t really mind Hed PE, so I’m not going to sit here and say that’s an entirely bad thing, but damn, is it really worth spending the last 3 days defending them? Like 80% of the comments on this one post are from you alone.     I just don’t get how someone can say that what Hed PE is doing is nu-metal when they sound nothing like nu-metal. BROKE was the only album that came close to sounding like nu-metal, and that was only in a couple of tracks. “Rapcore” and “nu metal” are often used interchangeably, but there is a difference. Hed PE are definitely more punk influenced, whereas nu metal bands are influenced by things like grunge or groove metal or industrial metal. Hed PE were in no way influenced by rap-metal. There is a huge difference between bands like Disturbed and rapcore bands.

    INSOMNIA was partially influenced by thrash, but it was still basically punk/hardcore/rap-rock/reggae-rock, and everything I’ve heard from NWO points to it being more punk-influenced. “Renegade” is definitely punk rock. “Ordo Abo Chao” leans a little more towards a mixture of hardcore and reggae styles.

    TJ is an outright liar. If you listen to any amount of a Hed PE song, you will listen to the rest of the song because of how original and good it is. That is a FACT.
