SPEAKING OF THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN…

Monday, January 5th, 2009 at 2:57pm by Vince Neilstein

… here’s a fan-filmed live video with surprisingly decent sound quality [sent in by MS Maniac Damotello] of DEP covering Van Halen’s “Hot For Teacher” at this past summer’s Warped Tour. Watch as the band tears it up — especially guitarist Jeff Tuttle’s near-perfect rendition of EVH’s guitar shred — and the song’s significance is completely lost on the mostly teenage audience, despite the many false cheers that erupt when Greg Puciato mockingly asks how many people know the song.

I must say that while i am a big Dillinger fan, and i know many other fans of their’s who are very HUGE fans of Van Halen (some just Roth years, and some Roth/Van Hagar fans) as well, i could not agree more (sorry if i offend anyone here) with the observation that most of the people and Douche-Fags that attend “Vans Warped Tour” shows probably have no idea about Hot For Teacher unless maybe they played it a couple times on Guitar Hero World Tour and said “Hey Dad, whos this Van Halen band, man they sound fuckin old and lame”. While i would consider myself a “metalhead” if you will, i just always grew up watching the Good Charlotte and Fall Out Boy fags in school raving about Warped Tour, although bad ass bands like Protest The Hero play there as well.

Ps: you gotta laugh at the dudes in the crowd doin the “claw” to Hot For Teacher ROFL

Isn’t their a certain rule about bands, that you can’t impersonate some…..

They did a fucking awesome job! The kids in the crowd don’t know it, who cares, its their loss. At least someone taped it and we all got to eventually enjoy it (for those that didn’t, please kill yourselves) via the interwebs. ‘Nuff said.

licks my ass. well the guitar is fine (iish) but seriously that singer looks like he has no clue what to do on stage. he hops back and forth from that little platform and generally shows that he has no idea what to do on stage.

Went to Warped Tour to see DEP, Every Time I Die, Protest the Hero, and As I Lay Dying(I enjoyed their last album) this past year. And I grew up on Van Halen and the great 80’s style of music so when Dillinger brought this out, I was basically in shock. It was one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen. However, most of the people were confused, even though most Warped Tour fags are confused by DEP anyway.

Actually, this might be the same date that I was at. Sweet!

Jeff Tuttle just moved up a notch in my book. Looking forward to the new DEP.

    Gee..
    How “awesome”.
Now if only they had 1/1,000,000,000,000,000,000th of the stage presence….

    Note:
If you’re a jocky-lookin guy with a cop haircut, cop beer gut and cop stage-waddle,
don’t even TRY emulating DLR in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM!

They played this at Irving Plaza last summer and it was one of the best covers I’ve ever seen. Cavalera Conspiracy were great, but it was Dillinger’s night.

This band keep getting older and keep getting better while every other band out there gets younger and shittier! I’m glad they play shit like this and don’t care that half the crowd weren’t even born when this song came out.
