ANOTHER BAND WITH AN UNFORTUNATE NAME
Wednesday, January 7th, 2009 at 11:09am by Axl RosenbergPave the Way, what the press notes tell me is the fourth album from Los Angeles’ Flatline, has the most misleading, bullshit album title of anything that isn’t Lake Bukkake’s This Album Comes with a Blowjob Sandwich from Tawny Kitaen and Lita Ford.
Because Flatline ain’t pavin’ the way for shit. They are, however, doing a fairly good job of sounding an awful lot like Pantera.
That’s a crime of which many modern bands are guilty (I won’t name names, but it rhymes with “Motown”), but few do it as boringly as these dudes. This is one of those albums that would seem to prove the theory that it’s better to suck giant stinky gorilla balls than to be bland.
I’m saying I’ve had cotton candy that’s lasted longer in my mouth than the memory of this band will in my head.

HAHAHAHA!
I know what your talking about dude! I live here in L.A., & i think I played a gig with them in my last band.
I totally agree about the endless supply of Pantera-wanna-be’s. Fuking up the whole scene too. Shit doesn’t really float, but once n’ a while there are a couple of good floaters…
… but when you’re rite, you’re rite!
All typical shit check list
Iron cross…check
Pentagram…check
Camo…check
Skulls…check
Guns…optional but…check.
Complete shit here..who really wants another bro-band.
no way fuck’n A bro..naw bro …ay bro.. fuck bro.
Brotown
That skull has a lot of firepower there….I wonder if he is trying to compensate for something.
Yeah im from the LA area and I’ve seen these guys also. The review hit it right on the head. The thing that pisses me off though is that people go nuts for them over here. It’s very nauseating.
I had the pleasure (is that the right word?) of reviewing the most recent album of the band that rhymes with Motown, and I must say: there were only a few seconds where that band wasn’t trying to be Pantera…and that’s when they were trying to be Lamb of God.
@Joe I think the guns are a subliminal message ie If your thinking about listening to this album just do yourself a favor and shoot yourself. And it appears they forgot the spike through the ears which would be appropriate.
Amazing how many of you idiots want to bag on these guys. They give a killer performance and have worked damn hard for many years and I know this from following them. They are not some screaming fag bullshit band, and MANY OTHERS plus myself give them horns up all the way. The lyrics have real meaning if any of you took the time to listen instead of expecting some bullshit lyrics based on some fuckin fantasy. And people go nuts for them because they are really good and pretty much match their album live so all of you should get your heads out of your asses. They are pretty much true thrash metal and Pantera is not the only band to ever mean anything, and all of you know that, since when have any one of you only liked one band.. get fuckin real! Give horns up when it is due.. like these guys!!!! You fuckin fags!
Every cd will have good and bad reviews.. because everyone has an opinion.. FLATLINE is doing great.. AND I GIVE THEM ALL THE HORNS UP!! See here is a review stating the opposite… say what you like… THEY KILL IT!
CD Review – Flatline
Pave the Way
Stand And Deliver Records/Uprising/Sony
In 2008 Los Angeles based Flatline have stood out of legions of faceless death/thrash clones due to the major success of digitally released album Pave the Way. Now, the physical distribution is to hit the shelves on February 3, 2009. If there was only one word to describe this CD, it would be quality.
Whether you are already part of the newly-formed madly headbanging fan base of Flatline or just looking for quality skull-smashing metal, Pave the Way will deliver. An obvious improvement over the digital quality, the CD will let you experience the band’s wrath to the fullest. Complete with eye-catching artwork and masterfully recorded tracks from beginning to end the release seems flawless.
For a band that only started gaining speed, they are doing extremely well, have extensively toured with likes of Walls of Jericho and 36 Crazyfists. The other important point is that, while nobody expects to find anything new in their music, they manage to avoid the usual banality and dryness, as proven for example in the epic “Generations Fall”. Explosive riffs, intricate lyrics, rather complex solos – Flatline doesn’t invent anything new but they somehow are able to combine the sound people from two decades earlier are accustomed to and still catch the attention of a modern metalhead.
this really isn’t a bad band but they’re not true thrash metal at all true thrash metal is bands like Forbidden,Kreator,Vio-lence and Exhorder i really didn’t like this cd too much because it didn’t have much to it i’m not shitting on this band but i’m not going to praise them either some people like them some people don’t i happen to be on the fence with this band leaning toward the people that doesn’t like this band
I think its funny that everyone that bashes Flatline says:
“Well they are trying to be Pantera , or they are trying to be Lamb of God”.
Do you morons that are saying that realize what a HUGE Compliment that is, those bands are great, they sold millions of records and have loyal fans!
Just the fact that flatline makes you think of Pantera and Lamb of God PROVES that they are a great band!
As far as the guns, skulls, camo, every band does that its typical to their genre of music.
