This makes me think back to high school, when this metal-ignorant girl wore an Anthrax shirt to school one day. A really fucking cool one too, one with Judge Dredd on it. When I asked her where she got it (and NOT how much it cost) she told me “a vintage store in Brooklyn for about 85 bucks”, and then proceeded to talk a whole bunch of shit about Anthrax. “You like them? God, they’re terrible. I didn’t think anyone still listened to that kind of shit anymore”. That night, Judge Dredd came to her house, stripped her of her blasphemous clothing, and then burned down her entire wardrobe. She came to school in nothing but a thong for the rest of senior year. No joke, respect the badge. He earned it with his blood.

Heh, thanks Old Skool Metal, its really pissing me off when I see poser kids wearing T-shirt of my favourite bands. It doesn’t happen very often now though, mainly because that trend faded in the UK, and because I’m more into Death Metal now :]

It’s really a shame because the kids will most likely never even try to listen to those great bands.

Oh and if ill ever again see a poser kid wearing SLAYER shirt I will suffocate and disembowel him/her !

the funny thing about the trendy idiots in ACDC t shirts is that they sell them at walmart and there is NOTHING less metal than walmart!
It drives me crazy when I see all these little idiots in Maiden shirts and my all time personal favorite the Damage Inc. Pushead Metallica shirt. Ask these idiots who pushead is and they look at you like you’re retarded. When I was growing u we had to order our shirts from Hit Parader magazine or go to like a few select little novelty stores. I also grew up getting in fights with rednecks and idiot jocks that called us satan worshippers. We wore our shit proudly in a world that hated us. These idiots wear them to fit in.

That being said I do like that there actually is a new generation of metal heads coming up. I feel sorry for them for having to put up with all these posers.

I lived in an apartment complex about four years ago where I’d see this group of Mexican kids running around all the time. One kid (around 10 or 11 years old, I’m guessing) would wear an Iron Maiden “Killers” t-shirt EVERY DAY. Same shirt, every time I saw him. I was torn. For one, I thought it highly unlikely that the kid had ever heard a Maiden song. On the other hand, maybe the kid latched on to something an uncle or family friend played for him. Maybe he wasn’t a total poser. And even if he just thought it was a cool looking shirt, maybe it’ll inspire him to give a listen to “Somewhere in Time” someday.

So, I can forgive a ten year old. It’s the 15 hipsters that bug the shit out of me.

@ Jenna: Amen. I feel like nowadays I’m only allowed to wear a shirt with some completely obscure underground band on it, just to prove I’m into ‘metal’ enough for people not to sneer at me. White guys between 20-40 (which, if I think about it, seems to make up pretty much the ENTIRE metal community) are the worst for it. Give us a fucking break, ok? I happen to like Lamb of God (oh, and Burn the Priest. Shockingly. Am I metal enough now?).

That said, little teenage hipster girls in Metallica shirts annoy the shit out of me too. As if everyone doesn’t know they, like, LOVE MCR and Fall Out Boy even more (because, like, Pete/Gerard is sooo hot and all). *Gag*.

Hopefully they all grow out of it (but I’m doubtful).

let’s be reasonable here for a second… drew barrymore used to do a lot of drugs in the day… and she was a teen in the late 80’s. It is possible, unlikely, but possible she likes Maiden.

But funny enough someone said this to my girlfriend once about a Metallica shirt, and she went as far as to name for them several songs, the place where James lost his face, and the Mustaine songs.
