Studying journalism, one of the first things you learn is that things such as nationality, creed or religion are irrelevant to the story. For example, saying “a young woman was murdered by a Nigerian man yesterday” implies that the murderer’s nationality was a determining factor in the deed, and all Nigerians act as such. I know Love’s example is a much more common and stereotypical one, but that doesn’t excuse it.
