MR. BIG STILL WANTS TO BE WITH YOU

I think I’m pretty knowledgeable when it comes to hair metal and cock rock, but I honestly couldn’t discuss any Mr. Big song that isn’t “To Be With You.” Apparently I’m not alone: the band has 124 songs currently on iTunes, ten of which are really just “To Be With You;” six of those ten take spots as the band’s ten most purchased songs. In other words: when Billy Sheehan dies, this song will be mentioned very close to the top of his obituary.

ANYWAY, the band is apparently reuniting for some shows in Japan, a.k.a. the only place where most hair metal musicians are still considered stars. I’d express jealousy that the bands Japanese fans will get to indulge and us Americans will not, but I honestly don’t give a shit; somebody call me when the two versions of  L.A. Guns finally reconcile.

dude mr. Big was sick apart from that want to be with you song. Paul gilbert is one of the best guitarists i have ever seen live, and sheehan was a huge influence on my bass playing. They have some sick songs like “shy boy” and stuff

Gotta be their shittiest song right there. They have some good stuff.

Mr. Big is continued proof that talented musicians do not necessarily write good music. (And conversely, there are plenty of bands with inferior musicians who write good music.)

I saw Mr.Big some years back. I loved the drill/solo part of the show and To Be With you was just radio fodder. The rest of their songs rock, one of my favorites was “Green Tinted Sixties Mind’.

I was still a kid and I never knew Mr. Big in the 90s, but I’m a big fan now because of youtube, all I can say is you’ve never really known the band till you see them perform live! The first time I saw the drill song it was like the coolest thing, I wondered why nobody else did it! Plus their songs really have great melodies, and they’re not all about making noise and screaming. They were underrated geniuses before, because they came in too late (just before grunge and rap came to taste), but this is the perfect time for a new era, and it only takes maybe few digital tweeks to their melodies and a whole lot of new music videos to make em new. Plus, they don’t look old at all check out the link:

I remember when Eric Martin was just starting out in a little band called “Scarlet Letter” and then later “415″. He has an amazing voice! They did a song called “Cover Girl” I really liked but it was so, so long ago I forgot how it went…
