In a prior interview with Finland’s MusiikkiTV shortly after the split, Draiman revealed that his now-former fiancee’s heritage — half German and half Persian — had become what he called “a huge source of contention in my family.” For those who aren’t privvy to our near-daily assault of Jewicisms on MetalSucks, Draiman comes from an Orthodox Jewish background and has some 200 relatives living in Israel, including his brother and grandmother.
Might Draiman now be on the prowl for a hot, young Jewess? Seems he’s being a bit more selective this time around; “I went out in Chicago. Got a couple of number, went on a couple dates. They didn’t last through dinner,” says Draiman in the below interview Altitude. Ouch! D-man’s playing hard to get. If I were the mother of a Jewish girl in the Chicago area I’d be awfully mindful of who my daughter hangs around with, lest Draiman inject her with “The Sickness.” Oooo ahh ahh ahh ahh.

Maybe my thoughts are just completely ignorant and un-educated but for a people that went through the worst discrimination the world has seen, Jewish families sure seem to have a lot of “family contention” and almost discriminating reactions to anyone being brought into their families other than jews. It’s called straight racism when a white guys family brings a chinese girl or black girl home and the family protests or when a black guy takes home a white woman and the black women in the family go crazy over it but it seems that Jewish familes have a strong reputation for trying to keep the blood line pure with 100% jewish blood. Am i ignorant for seeing this that way? It just almost seems like acceptable racism or something.

@ceth: You went from religion to race; it isn’t the same thing. To want your son or daughter to marry someone of the same faith and to then raise their children of that faith is a bit different than saying “I don’t want my daughter marrying some [insert racial slur].” And I do think it’s perfectly socially acceptable, for instance, for Catholic parents to want their children to marry Catholic. We allow this because it has to do with alignment of ideology and beliefs, not skin color or ethnic background.
Honestly, I think it’s all pretty ridiculous, seeing as I was raised without any real religious influence in my life, and my parents couldn’t care less who I marry as long I’m happy, so I’m not actually defending myself or my parents here. Just think your logic is a bit off.
Ben Weinman should definitely ride his ex. Take the Disturbed/DEP feud to a whole new level.

I’m sure Draiman’s just a bit confused. There’s a bunch of contentiousness in his family on account of how he’s a hacktastic douche, not because of who he dates.
all i can think about when i see this fuck is that if he died in a tragic accident and they made a movie out of it evan handler would be peeeerfect.
I think it was more like, his family was upset that the girl he was dating was a mixture of all who have oppressed the Jews. I still think it is stupid to act like she was a part of that but I can see the weak foundations of logic behind it.

Kasnoric, while I’m not all that “into” mathcore, DEP, I suppose, is one of the best I’ve heard. The thing that kills me about the whole “fued” between Disturbed and DEP is that it all started over some member of DEP “catching” some members of Disturbed practicing stage placement. It started over a little damage control. And, while what DEP does in the way of stage diving and fire breathing is very entertaining, do you think that they do any damage control for it? I would call them either liars or idiots if they didn’t.
I’m so over this “fued”. It was stupid when it started and it’s even more so now. Everyone involved was old enough to know better. I’m not condemning what DEP did nor am I condoning the reaction it recieved from Disturbed.
Rather good you posted this late, so I could interject before commentators at large laugh at such an assertion, needless to say I am not a favored individual here. There are many intelligent people here, however many waste their intelligence, others use it simply to harass, while I suppose I’m just a dissenter.
The feud was at least amusing until David inserted himself into it, Dan and Ben are meatheads, David is arguably as far from a meathead as most metal singers were from a real job before their success. The way he shut it down succinctly caused even the bias owners here admit no fault on his behalf, which is quite a feat indeed.

@Jason, you’re right. One would think that by Disturbed having more than one conflict with more than one band that they may be assholes. They were. In a few recent interviews, David says that one thing he regrets is some of his past behavior and “rants”. One can read into this what they like. Maybe they all just needed to grow up a little. Now they have and might be waiting for their fans to do the same…hint hint.
Nope, I treat everyone to the same reaction when they behave like sheep, nice failures there by the way, and calling me a “poser” when you know not of which I am posing as, aren’t we clever.

Siena, well, I’ve never known that to be true, as all of these fights stem from the bands making brash, rather pathetic press statements with absolutely no backing and all shit talking nonsense, and Disturbed reacting in a way they deem suitable. Unsurprisingly all but Finch so far have reverted into cowards with nothing to say when confronted, which is the norm with very loud minority voices. Though Finch decided to just continue shit talking and lying through the press after fleeing the scene when confronted, which is even more cowardly than just admitting it like Ben did and backing down.
I’m interested in these interviews you speak of, I’ve heard of David’s “rants” within Disturbed, do you have any of them on you?

When I first heard Disturbed I hated them. “Maybe we can put it on credit?” How lame is that? But over time I really started liking the band and developed a huge crush on David Draiman. However personally I would never sleep with him or any rocker for that matter because they get around too much for prudish tastes. I think everyone ripping on him or anyone else famous for that matter is just jealous they arent famous and cant get (almost) any girl they want. If you really hate him dont give in and make comments about him. Drama and crap talking only makes people more famous now a days ;)

Eugh, my friend, well former friend, lost contact, who is actually part of a punk/metalcore band, she’s the singer, loved Disturbed, and she would constantly taunt me with thoughts of him in leather pants.
Still makes me shiver with disgust, needless to say if I were gay, David is not the kind of dude I’d find attractive, well said though, indeed.
