I adore this album. Aya, you're right that a ton of bands are combining post-rock and black metal, but nobody's doing it quite like Blut Aus Nord. To me, this album sacrifices way less of black metal than the bands you mentioned...this still feels like a killer black metal album, but it has the reverb that you'd expect from Explosions in the Sky or Geisha. That set is apart from (let's say) Wolves in the Throne Room or Alcest, whose recent stuff may as well be ambient drone music with blastbeats.

Haha, I'm really into post-rock influenced black/doom metal but what makes me confused is that dozens of bands are doing this kind of stuff now. Is this because post-rock and metal are neighbors? Entering into the post-rock field seems to be a piece of cake for black/doom metallers.
Agalloch, Blut aus Nord, Neige, Fen, Caina, Forest Of Shadows(to name a few)...just can't get enough.lol

Can't wait to hear this. I think TWWTG is a fucking brilliant album and I kind of wish they'd kept going in that direction, but maybe the fact that it's a continuation of sorts from their old material is the reason for toning down the sheer dissonance found in TWWTG and MoRT.
