Ha, that’s a lot of Star Wars stuff.

I love Blood Mountain, but it’s compressed to hell. Every time a guitar solo comes in, there’s clipping. Hopefully, the sound quality will be better on this album.

Brent still drinks quite a bit I’d say.

There was that incident with the guy from that indie band, where he poured his drink on him and punched him or something. He still acts pretty ridiculous in some of the interviews, maybe he just didn’t want to be intoxicated so he could play in tip top shape?

Oh man, I was excited for this album before, but now I’m EXCITED. I love these guys. Funny, while Brent was explaining their progression from crazyfastheavyfastinsanefastcrazy to more melodic & mellow and epic and classic rock-y and more focused on the songs & songwriting, blah blah blah… that’s pretty much a perfect description of where my head is as a listener and fan of metal as well. I still love the heavy, and always will, but as I get older (I’m 32) I want more than that. Mastodon and a lot of bands like them (in terms of the marriage of heaviness and progginess/muscianship/songcraft/maturity) really embody that in a beautiful way, and go a log way towards explaining why I love them and Opeth and Devy and Porcupine Tree and Burst and all that shit so much, and why I can’t hardly listen to Slayer at all anymore without getting bored almost immediately.
I fucking LOVED Blood Mountain, and I am jizzinmypants stoked for Cracke thee Skye.

It’s probably due to them being in the studio. I can’t imagine being shitfaced would make it easier to record an album, an Mastodon have some fairly intricate guitar parts at times. Give him time Axl. I wanna see Brent vs. Shavo round 2!

I have to say I’m excited because I think they aren’t full of shit when they say this is going to be something new, a progression. Most bands hype up their album and even if it rocks, it’s about what you expected. I don’t have a clue what this album as a whole is going to sound like. So it should be a fun first listen.
