JUSTIN BROADRICK FINALLY LETS US DOWN

detail-pantera-biomechanicalCosmo Lee over at Invisible Oranges is on a Justin K. Broadrick kick this week. Lee says he doesn’t especially care for Broadrick’s more recent output, even if he loves the Broadrick of yore; I couldn’t disagree more, but, hey, I understand that Jesu ain’t for everyone.

In all honestly, Broadrick has been kind of untouchable in my mind. I’ve never heard him do anything I didn’t think was awesome – at least, not until now.

See, Lee has posted a pair of Pantera remixes Broadrick did under the alias “Biomechanical” – and they’re fucking awful. As Lee puts it, “If you didn’t like Pantera before them, you’d like them even less afterwards.”

The thing is, I’m having a hard time articulating precisely why the remixes are so sucky – but I don’t think you’d have to listen for more than 20 or 30 seconds to understand.

Head over to Invisible Oranges to check ‘em out. They’ve got “Fucking Hostile” and “By Demons Be Driven” up right now… they suck in equal measures.

This is old, like 1993… 16 years ago. Maybe then he wasn’t that good :)

  • Axolotl

Streetcleaner came out 4 years before that, so I would rule that out.

Haha I remember these from one of the Pantera home videos. Yeah they were more annoying than anything else.

…. I don’t usually rag on your posts but this one is pretty damn pointless. I thought you were going to be talking about some new material or unearthed hidden stuff, not these random remixes he probably took a weekend with his bong to make.

Bleh oh well, the Invisible Oranges plug is worthy since that’s a killer blog even if Cosmo’s got an even more vomit-inducing taste than Metal Inquisition.

Wow. now you’re going to have me digging up the sole Pantera bootleg CD I have with these two remixes on them. I never attributed them to anyone, instead thinking they were just studio leftovers. Justin Broadrick. Really?

  • Max

There was no secret who was behind those remixes when they were released. I got them because of Godflesh meats Pantera and was sorely disappointed as often happened with B-Sides like this in the days before the ‘try it before you buy it’ internet.

  • NuMallCore Pwns Yo Mama

I had that CD single import with the Biomechanical mixes on them. They were awful.

  • Fritz!

I think these remixes where part of the soundtrack of some old snowboarding film too, Project 6 if i remember correctly. It also feature some Tool tracks and even orange 9mm!! Damn!

  • Nick

These were released as part of the singles pack for the 1994 Australia Tour.

There is plenty of other Metal bullshit to complain about out there than two songs that came out in the 90′s in an otherwise epic career. Saying you don’t like these remixes is like saying you don’t like the color orange. Fucking subjective. Waste of a post.

All that I know is that when I was eating fruit loops, playing nintendo and watching cartoons here’s a guy who was remixing Pantera and destroying the world as Godflesh. What were you doing 15 years ago?
