Our very own Dallas Coyle and his brother Doc of the mighty God Forbid made the long trip all the way from New Jersey to San Antonio, Texas, to premiere their long-awaited new CD release, Earthsblood.

Hosted by S.A. metal institution Robb Chavez of Robb’s Metal Works, the Coyle brothers stopped into the Cabo Grille to chat with fans, answer questions from the press, and drink beers while spinning their new record.

It was also the first meeting between two MetalSucks contributors (MS bloggers Dallas Coyle and Corey Mitchell pictured above with Doc Coyle and Antonia “Toni” Garcia of OMCTV).

The Coyles talked about the theme of Earthsblood, how they came about the artwork for the new record, their upcoming tours with Lamb of God and Mayhem Fest, the improbability of running their own record label, the effect an Obama presidency may or may not have on their career, and their sheer, unadulterated love for metal.

Interestingly, most people were not really listening to the record as they were more excited about talking to the guys in the band. Dallas and Doc really do appreciate their fans and make sure to go out of their way to make them feel comfortable.

I want to wish Dallas, Doc, and God Forbid the best of luck as they head out on the road for at least the next six months to support Earthsblood. Be sure you do your part and support God Forbid wherever and whenever possible. [Listen to the full album and pre-order the special Earthsblood package (w/ t-shirt for only $16!) -Ed.]

    eh…….

  2. alexwank says:

what a rubbish post. i’ve read it 3 times and still can’t figure out what information it’s trying to communicate. seems some b grade writer met GF and wrote a startling boring account of this wonderous event. wow.
is metalsucks still maintaining that GF don’t get unwarranted attention around here?

  3. dthrasher says:

Goddamit, some people are so fucking stupid. To the dude above me, news flash, this is a fucking BLOG. That means that they have free reign to write about whatever the fuck they feel like writing about. Another news flash, they are probably friends with the dudes in GF or just really like the music, and hence, they hype their friends. If you had a metal blog that lots of people read and you also had friends in metal bands, you would be a tool if you didn’t give them free press as well.

This may come off as a bit of an overreaction, but I’ve been dealing with stupid people all day and I need to vent somewhere (also tired of people complaining about gf coverage, because srsly, who fuckin cares, skip to the next article). And if it took you three tries to get through this article to finally reach a conclusion about, then you my friend, are one of those aforementioned stupid people.

    Corey Mitchell:

I totally saw you for like 6 seconds on some show about a serial killer or something when I was flipping channels and it landed on E! or something like that.

I was like, “Whoa, that’s Corey Mitchell, author and frequent contributor to metalsucks.com. That’s kinda cool.”

Then I went on with my life.

  5. Fink says:

    Amen, dthrasher.

People need to stop treating this (or any blog with no professional or official affiliations) like a legitimate news outlet. Your expectations mean nothing. And the guys at Metalsucks owe you nothing. If you don’t like the content, go somewhere else.

  6. alexwank says:

dtthrasher. first off, i am not your friend. i’m certainly not friends with people who attempt to gain ascendency over others by simply asserting that they are ’stupid’. while i won’t conjecture about your intellect, i will just state that i am very seldom left wanting in that department.
yes i realise it’s a blog. a blog that often does a good job of masquerading as a metal news website. quite a few of the posts deal with the presentation of news, and are not just a soapbox for the webmasters to espouse opinions. that is why the inordinate number of GF posts has been discussed before, i was simply pointing out that the person who originally stated this was onto something. and when the refutation from dallas/metalsucks came about the original claim, it didnt say ‘it’s a blog, we do what we want’. they opined that GF was equally as represented as any other band. i don’t think anyone’s going to attempt to quantify this issue, so it will simply remain a difference of opinion.
the reason i commented is because a) for once i was stirred to (I read all articles, but seldom comment) b)comments on the blog have been enabled, presumably because they are interested in what readers have to say. if comments have to be positive only, then there should be a note to that effect, but what a sad old site it would be.
i commented as i like this site, but that post was not of a standard i expect. sue me.

  7. @alexwank: Hmmm, let’s see. I am a frequent contributor for MetalSucks. Dallas Coyle is too. Dallas and God Forbid just so happen to have a shindig in my hometown so I decide to meet my fellow blogger in person. Oh yeah, and it just so happens I happen to be a huge fan of God Forbid and have been for several years, long before we started blogging together. They fly in, we have fun, issues are discussed, people listen to a record. It is nothing more, nor nothing deeper than that. Simply a fun night and a quick re-cap.

    Lighten up, Frances.

  8. @seveword: Then I went on with my life.

Dude, that was hilarious. Thaks for the laugh!

And, yes, that was my ugly mug, probably on 20 Most Horrifying Hollywood Murders. I’m surprised the guys at MS still let me blog here after seeing that horrorshow.

  9. fortheloveofdog says:

Thanks for the fun piece, Corey. I am very excited about “Earthsblood” and was glad to see the band having a good time.

And screw the pseudo-British fucktard up above. Someone must have pissed in his cornflakes this morning. Either that or his mum caught him fapping to rectal prolapse porn again.

  10. Scott says:

Alexwank…for a dude that likes to use a few big words here and there, your spelling and grammar sucks donkey balls.

Earthsblood is an awesome album. I never thought I would say this but it’s better than Lamb Of God’s new album.

  11. bondedbybud says:

Wow I’m glad someone besides me finally notices the obscene amount of attention and useless posts that are made about this band. I two read the post and all I can make of it is it is another clever way to promote their “album of the century”. They are just trying to find a clever reason to rehash the same old shit. I still find it amusing how my post about metal sucks tonguing GF’s asshole made such a stir, I guess the same is still true. Who needs a colonic when you have the tongues of just about every writer here at Metalsucks?

  12. Barack says:

The new GF is utter garbage. Yes, I am a critic and got an advanced copy. This band has run out of ideas which is testament to the amount of time it took them to release this album since IV. 7-String guitars!!! OH MAN!!! Just a lot of chugging on that low A and now they think they are a ‘heavier’ band. Dallas’ cleans are totally random and out of place on this effort. No improvements made on any parts most notably the uninspired vocals and the bland guitar parts. I actually loved IV and thought it was an easy 9/10 album, this one maybe gets a 2/10 (generously).

  13. elvispresley says:

How this band can run out of ideas – they didnt have any. 7th string guitar – yeah i understand they amazament. Just dont tell them that some band recorded album on such guitars 15 years ago.
    They could get depression.

  14. Scott says:

Since we’re on the subject of 7 string guitars, doesn’t Megadeth’s new guitarist Chris Broderick play a 7 string and he’s a damn fine player.

On to another note. Catalepsy, a band I’ve seen live one time…had 3…not 1, not 2, but 3 7 string guitar players in their band. They were alright, but I just didn’t see the point in using 3 7-string guitar players in one band.

  15. Sammy says:

I do like Dallas, but is it me or does he look like he’s stayed away from salad lately?

  16. Sammy says:

And by the way, Metalsucks commentors, why is it so wrong for Vince, Axl, Corey, et al to try and help out and/or further the career of someone they consider a friend?

  17. Dallas says:

I always stay away from the salad! Double Quarter Pounders on the regular!

  18. Scott says:

It’s no different from Blabbermouth posting KISS, Metallica and Megadeth news every two minutes…cause you know those bands need the press. Like dthrasher said; It’s their blog to do what they want with it.

  19. DemonicLemming says:

GF does get a lot of coverage on here, more than other bands I’d like to see mentioned (let’s get back to the Viking metal, you fuckheads – and mention Tyr and Korpiklanni once in a while, too), but I’m not the owner/author of the blog, so whatever. It doesn’t hurt me for GF to have a bunch of coverage on here, so it doesn’t bother me.

Anyway, I’d rather see a band with some talent, like GF, get more coverage than the newest trendiest band to nuthug that really aren’t that great (like, say, Gojira).
