NOW THAT THE NEW LAMB OF GOD ALBUM IS DONE, A LIFE ONCE LOST CAN START WRITING THEIR NEW ALBUM

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 at 1:30pm by Axl Rosenberg

Thanks to Metal Injection for pointing out that A Life Once Lost have apparently started work on the follow-up to 2007’s Sacrament, Part II Iron Gag. In a statement, the band said “Now that we’ve heard Lamb of God’s Wrath, we know what our new album should sound like!”

In all seriousness, I shouldn’t give ALOL shit for aping LoG; for one thing, I actually really, really like ALOL’s music, and for another thing, they sometimes ape Meshuggah, too. So…

While we wait for the ALOL album later this year, here’s the band’s video for “Vulture” off of 2005’s Hunter, which is a rabid dog of  a record if ever there was one. That guitar solo is suh-weet!

  1. Ah, yes! This song is my ring tone on my cell. “I can promise you one thing…I will hunt you, ’til you’re dead!!!!!!!!!!!!”

  2. Owen says:

ALOL’s singer is definately very Blythe-like, can’t help but think they’ve got a bit more swagger with their groove though.

  3. Tnuttybuddy says:

Not to mention, Lamb of God endlessly bites Pantera and now with Wrath, a good chunk of Metallica.

  4. tyler09 says:

i fucking love this song, usually the first one played on my iPod

  5. Carter says:

The pre-chorus is the shit. also this video looks stupid high budget. Bob is a badass

  6. Kevin says:

In my opinion ALOL is better than LOG but whatever….

  7. 36thoughtless says:

People have ragged on ALOL a lot for Iron Gag, which is funny, because it’s actually a superb album and far more interesting than 90% of what LOG has written (not that LOG is bad).

  8. rag says:

me like ALOL more than lamb of yawn, me heard ALOL first also….
tnuttybutty has a good point, randy even tries to mosh like phil.

  9. Nate says:

Both bands are sweet, and so is Meshuggah.

Both LoG and ALOL have matured a lot since their early work…
Hunter and A Great Artist (and The Fourth Plague: Flies) are rough around the edges with a very raw sound, while Iron Gag is smooth, polished and very groove-tastic.
Burn the Priest and New American Gospel are similarly coarse and very-non-mainstream, while Sacrament and Wrath (from what I’ve heard) are more fine-tuned mainstream efforts.

None of this is bad in any way, either. I still love almost every song from both of these bands!!

  10. The Mighty Fucking Quinn says:

Randy did vocal productions on Hunter and Iron Gag, so there is the “start” of the similar sound. LoG and ALOL are probably my two favorite bands, but Iron Gag shits on Sacrament all day everyday. A Life Once Lost are amazing bro, don’t shit on them like that. It’s bad enough you guys don’t mention them nearly enough. And to boot, if you actually posted the update that MI posted, it mentions that it’ll be a throwback. I’m not going to bust out the tissues just yet, and mind you I honestly love everything ALOL have ever put out and think Iron Gag is superb, but if 2009 sees an album anywhere nearly as technically aggressive as A Great Artist, I will literally ejaculate for 17 months straight. No shit. My cock is already starting to twitch at the thought of it.

I’m usually good being opinionated and sounding logical, but I make no bones about being the ultimate A Life Once Lost fanboy.Rep!

  11. Tnuttybuddy says:

I take dumps on everyone here

  12. b-dizzle says:

As much as I don’t dig Sacrament, the faggots who keep saying it’s a Pantera ripoff because Randy did some clean-ish vocals similar to Phils style doesn’t make it a fucking pantera ripoff.

<3 ALOL, The hunter video is my favorite music video.

and rag: moshes like Phil? are you fucking stupid?

  13. Sammy says:

It’s 2009, there are only 12 musical notes. Sooner or later, everyone is copying someone.

  14. drumkilla says:

alol and log both rock. fuck haters. simple as that.

  15. uncle jesse says:

    Lamb of God Sucks
    straight cheese
    mall metal
    yea i said it
    gay as hell
    alol groove’s way sicker

  16. jaja says:

A Life Once Lost are fuckin’ awesome!

  17. metalfisher76 says:

I dig the early shit the most from both bands. And agree with Sammy that every one will sound like someone eventually. I can`t say I`m a huge fan of what either band did as far as GAG & SAC. go but dig Wrath and have much hope for ALOL`s next record. I will always be there for the live shit. Gotta get off here and rent a car for the Seattle LOG show in 2 weeks as a matter of fact! LATE!!

  18. fo twenny says:

    yallz is wack as fuck.
lamb of god is straight-up mall metal.
alol is way better than those inbred fucking jokes.
    getcho groove on, dawg.

  19. ALOL is cool, and so is LOG. Meshuggah shits on both of them forever.

  20. Christian says:

ALOL are actually cool people though. LoG is a buncha old ass psuedo hippy protesting with their music fags. Trust me, if you ever smoke a j with the boys from ALOL, you’ll understand.

  21. jame's marshall says:

ALOL fucking rock’s… an i can tell there completly different than lamb of god. i’m a big fan of both… but i think alol is more og. an they have groovier music. you know what i’m sayin though. they excpirament with alot more sound’s. lamb of god is strictly pure american metal.

  22. Scotty says:

A Life Once Lost is the shit. The don’t sound anything like Lamb Of God. Bob (ALOL) told me that their new album will be more similar to A Great Artist than anything else they’ve done, which makes me cum in my pants.

  23. noxious says:

If ALOL ‘ripped’ off LOG then why are the bands good friends?
Profoundly stupid argument, so did Led Zeppelin rip off Deep Purple too?
I’m confused, enlighten me, actually…don’t, your musical opinions are as relevant as milking a camel for beer.
