BRENT HINDS IS A CAVEMEN IN THE NEW MASTODON VIDEO

Those disappointed by the apparent sobriety of Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds in his recent studio video will be pleased with the return to his usual, blissfully wrecked state in this interview conducted by Altitude. Hinds sheds some light on the concept behind Mastodon’s upcoming video for the single “Divinations,” and the results are, well, perfectly Mastodonian:

I’m trapped in a block of ice dressed as a cave man, there are explorers, they come find me, I put the Flying V up to the block of ice and it melts, I come out, play a rippin’ guitar solo, kill all of them, and then I eat them, and then a Yeti comes out and eats me.

YES! Axl remarked to me the other day that he wasn’t super-excited about this record, and I kind of agreed. But the more I hear the actual band members talk about the record the more stoked I become. Have faith!

    Any fan *not* looking forward to the new Mastodon record is seriously just a contrarian. It’s just bullshit posturing because they’ve made it somewhat big now, and is no longer the “it” band to talk about in metal. Whatever.

    That was Bill with the mustache I think. I also think anyone not excited to listen to this new album is a hipster who likes bands based on what other people say and not based on the music.

    ^Yea, it’s Bill, not Brann. It appears as though he’s lost some of his chubbiness. He kind of looks like Brann now.

    Fuck yes, how appropriate. I am so fucking ready for this record to come out, pre-ordered the special edition the first day it was available, i think I may just take the day off work when it arrives and enjoy it full blast all day… I think this will be a great progression for a fantastic band. Oh, and it’s nice to see the quirkiness back in Brent, after the “in the studio” video that you guys posted not too long ago.
