Yeah EB & MS made me a GF fan. Interesting read, its funny how musicians are all about individuality & “unique sounds” yet call all the parts to their songs “the slayer bit, the deicide bit” etc. I sure do it & its good to know the greats do it 2.

After listening to both of the big releases today, I can safely say that both bands have written the best “epic” songs of their careers. Lamb of God with “Reclamation” and God Forbid with “Earthsblood.” Both albums are fucking awesome though, at some points, I felt underwhelmed by Wrath.

This album is intense and brutal; the best GF effort to date. “The New Clear” and “Shallow” just pound you into submission. I agree that Wrath is also a good album and am pleasantly surprised considering Sacrament and Ashes were real downers compared to Palaces. But in my opinion Earthsblood is definitely better than Wrath and GF is a much better band than LOG.

I like both Earthsblood and Wrath. Great albums and I’m not gonna say which one is better since it isn’t a competition. Even if I had to choose 1 I wouldn’t be able to say yet.

for sure, pacomon is right. lamb of god is great metal and they are very original, but they lack the subtleties that make music beautiful. even with gone forever, I thought god forbid had a subtlety most bands lack. they up the musicianship every album.

This is an awesome post by the way! I wish more bands did this sort of thing, some do in the their liner notes but to know where each song came from is great.

btw, It’s very cool that your dad plays on the album. Kind of like Los Lonely Boys do with their pop. (Before you slay me for mentioning Los Lonely Boys, check them out live sometime and ignore the radio hits. Those guys have chops.)
