You won’t get any arguement from me on that one, Ben. I think both (Patton and Keenan) come from a long line of frontmen who have created an adversarial relationship with their staunchest supporters and fans as a reaction to the “hero worship” that they feel so uncomfortable with. But instead of physically baiting the audience like Iggy, Rollins or even David Yow, they seem to do it with dismissive and sarcastic remarks in the press.

Patton in pretentious. He has the propensity to be a dick. A lot of artistic individuals are the same way. Maynard is the same way but I still love me some Tool. Neither one of them gets paid to be a nice guy though so who gives a fuck?

I am not debating Mr Patton’s musical integrity at all, who could? I’m not saying that his attitude is undeserved either, but I have met the man on more than one occasion and have exchanged stories with several artists who have worked with him in one capacity or another and to say he is not pretentious is just plain untrue. Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan and I’m not trying to slag the guy. I’m just suggesting that he won’t be getting any awards for “nice guy of the year.” Maybe it is just the price of being a genius.

Mike Patton isn’t pretentious at all. He hasn’t got an over-inflated sense of worth that’s undeserved.

The man is humble, way more humble than he needs to be, considering Faith were arguably the first and best alt rock band of all time, and he has a million and one other under-the-radar genius projects that have made him a cult hero to musicians, music fans and such.

Before the inevitable “They’re doing it for money!” come up; no, they’re not. Mike Patton had the chance to earn an assload by fronting the reformed Inxs, he didn’t. He’s not on the breadline and he’d never do anything for that reason. Whether or not the other guys are, I don’t know, but Mike Patton isn’t. I doubt we’ll get an album, but with Mike Patton, anything is possible.

I have seen interviews in which Mike Patton Has cringed and made snide remarks in response to the insinuation that he was (because he was, like it or not) a major inspiration to the entire “nu-metal” scene. It is not that surprising that he would de-facto distance himself from any relation to a sub-genre that garners as much disdain as nu-metal…Beyond that, I can verify that Mike Patton is not a particularly nice guy and a bit of a pretentious ass. Maybe I would be too if I had pipes of fucking gold and was the singer of a platinum selling band by the ripe ol’ age of 18…I’ll still be at the reunion show if they play my city.

He has said some bad things about nu-metal, but Patton has worked with Jonathan Davis, Chino Moreno, and Serj Tankian.

I know for sure though that he does probably hate the Bizkit.

muzikwhore…. except for the fact that Axl is talking out of his ass. Try finding any record of Patton talking shit about any nu metal bands and you’ll come up empty handed. If Axl has some source for his statement that he’d like to share, I’d love to see it. Never mind the fact that Mike Bordin, his former and current bandmate, played drums for Korn for a tour. Or that Patton himself has collaborated with Jonathan Davis on a Sepultura track. So, either Axl is full of shit or Patton has no integrity despite appearances to the contrary.

No, instead we’ll just let the metalsucks guys continue to represent alleged “facts” as they deem fit all in the name of conforming to their own small minded view; turning metal press into nothing more than the equivalent of pop bullshit like TMZ or Perez Hilton. Way to go guys.

Glad we have something in common. This reunion is going to bring back some memories.
