VADER’S “RISE OF THE UNDEAD” SHOULD HAVE STAYED DEAD

Last year Vader joined the re-recording club with the time-wasting and completely pointless XXV – and now I’m starting to wonder if the ridiculous exercise has sucked all the juice out of their mind grapes. The band has posted a demo for a new song, “Rise of the Undead,” on their website, and the song is the very definition of “forgettable.” And I say this as a Vader fan – it just doesn’t make me excited to hear their new album, Necropolis. In fact, it just makes me want to listen to The Absence’s album Necropolis, as everything on that record is vastly superior to this song.
Download the song below, then hit me with your best thoughts. Necropolis, the band’s first album with their new line-up, will be out later this year.
Vader, “Rise of the Undead” (Demo) – Necropolis

I don’t know what you don’t like about it. The guitar solo was nice, and I liked the riffing. It was really classic Vader. The mid-section reminded me of Kingu. Some of the really fast parts were a bit like Xeper. I don’t think I’d describe it as forgettable. Perhaps maybe it sounds too much like Vader of old, but the riffs were good.
Um, Necropolis is a song by the Absence, not an album.
Well I think its a pretty decent song, really Vader like. On the other hand you should give them a break, they went through some bad shit recently.
yeah, i dont see the problem. pretty good tune overall. certainly has piqued my interest enough to bother checking out the new record. my interest in vader has waned with each release since litany, so maybe this could herald a return to ‘litany’ type flat out ‘reign in blood on steroids’ material.
i will admit they’re fairly lame lyrics though, but i don’t turn to vader for lyrical prowess. at least it’s not in polish i guess..
XXV was better than half the new crap that came out in 2008 and just about sodomizes every other re-recording out there (Looking at you Hypocrisy with Catch 22 v.2.0.08)
Sounded good to me.
It’s a goddamn demo, lighten up. Vader have earned their place in death metal history, If I heard this tune live, I would go into a neck snapping frenzy. That’s all I need from these crazy bastards. But I do expect blistering solos from Vogg, who I’m sure is working through his own shit out on stage and deservedly so. Denying that man a chance to do what he loves, with a band he probably grew up idolizing, would be a huge injustice.
what they said
I happen to think, along with the others, that this is a great tune from a great band.
It’s good to see Vogg continue on since the hiatus of his band and the unfortunate death of his brother.
i respect but digress with your opinion…during these times of NWOHMB, a much dark transmission is necessary and VADER is the signal i rely on.
