METALSUCKS-SPONSORED HAUNTED TOUR GETS SOME NEW BANDS

Lots and lots of you have e-mailed us this week to ask about the fact that Intronaut and Kylesa have both dropped off The Haunted’s upcoming, MetalSucks-sponsored headlining trek in order to go tour with the almighty Mastodon. And, yeah, it’s bittersweet news at best; we were looking forward to seeing them with The Haunted, but it’s not as though the Atlanta quartet is really any less awesome than our favorite Swedes.
Of course, the always spectacular non-Nazis in Nachtmystium are still doing The Haunted tour, and now the replacement bands for Intronaut and Kylesa have been announced: Merauder and The Agonist.
Full confession: I’m not really familiar with either of these bands. But, hey, I love discovering new music, and now I have a project to look forward to! And even if for some reason you don’t like one or both of these bands, you’ve still got Nachtmystium (awesome) and, of course, THE MUTHAFUCKIN’ HAUNTED.

We will be at the April 19 show at BB King’s… although, to be honest, after the killer time we had in Atlanta last weekend, I’m tempted to get on a plane and check out the gig at The Masquerade. Sigh.

my band played with The Agonist last summer. they were all very very cool people that just hung out & told stories all night. i didn’t even need to approach them, they just introduced themselves.

Holy shit Merauder are a bunch of ignorant meatheads. This is hilarious. Go soak up some of their brilliance on their Myspace pictures page. The vocalis sounds like Max Cavalera though. So, ok.
Ok, color me ignorant, but who is the sailor scout in blue there? And why is she hanging out with a bunch of steampunks? Don’t tell me that she plays keyboard for them, I will bash my head into a wall.

The Agonist are an amazing band, Alyssa is an amazing vocalist and sings about interesting topics. Merauder I know of a little but they are an overlooked NYC hardcore band that have influenced alot of bands out there.
I just received The Agonist’s new album in the mail today. It’s heavier then their last album and doesn’t have excessive breakdowns or choruses like their debut. However…(now this is only after one listen) it seems like their is way to much going on in the background and Alyssa’s lyrics can get very wordy. Songs, man songs! is what its about and these songs have amazing sections to them but i dont think I’m gonna like it better then their debut.
New album is more unique, diverse and “underground” but “Once Only Imagined” had songs!
I do recommend you check out this band. Alyssa’s vocals are crazy and Danny’s Simon’s drumming is intense
I’m fucking shocked people from New York have never heard of Merauder. You guys might not listen to hardcore, but you know who Terror is. And Scott Vogal only owns like three t-shirts to tour in, one of which is an old-school Merauder shirt. Next Metal Sucks will say they’ve never heard of Agnostic Front. Geezer.
I was so looking forward to The Haunted show at BB’s.Now I might have to leave early to stop my woman from losing her shit because I spend half an hour staring at the gorgeous singer for The Agonist. lol
I’m going to check out both bands.Merauder are actually one of the bands that have been floating around on my list of music to look into for awhile, so that works out well.
The Agonist’s last album was kind of meh, but the stuff I’ve heard off the new one sounds like they’ve significantly progressed. May go to that April 4 show.
I’m not really into Merauder, but I’m interested to see what new stuff The Agonist will bring to their live set. I was really looking forward to seeing Intronaut and Kylesa on this lineup though, it made such a random yet great show. Hopefully I can check out the Mastodon tour.

Merauder is one of those “important” old-school New York hardcore bands that many other bands cite as an influence, but I still wouldn’t know one of their songs if you played it for me.

Anyway it’s good to see Merauder on a good tour again… I like The Haunted a lot but i prefer Merauder trillion times :)
I hope you’ll play in France (i live in Paris) soon, and i can’t wait for “gangsta” to be out !
