i wouldn't say musically, but i see your point. it's just as simple and clicheed thematically, maybe even the same people listening to it, only different ages...
but hey, we've got The Ocean over here, so we'll take your Manowar and we're even... hey, maybe still a good bit above even!

jesus, this music is the reason why I sometimes hesitate telling people I love metal.

I am not surprised this powermetal crap is so popular in Germany btw, as it musically really resembles schlager/volksmusik. If you know what I'm talking about. Seriously.

Ross is right on in his outlook on whats happening in the music industry. The big acts are continuing on due to the fact that they tour a great deal thereby keeping their name out their. Who knows where Manowar might have been had they done the same.

i say this as a guy that makes his living touring and playing metal. the internet is not killing music, its getting music into peoples hand faster and more efficiently than the music industry. this doesn't strike me as something the labels are going to be able to conquer and return to the glory days either. the power structure in the whole industry is too big and centralized to be flexible enough to deal with it. smaller labels start putting money into building a relationship with fans and they survive most likely. major labels spend all their money lobbying the government to do something to protect their business model or ripping the artist off harder and they fail. the label bubble will burst just like the wall street bubble, gonna be interesting to see who figures out how to pick up the pieces. i for one am stoked to see it.

also, this dude sounds like an absolutely insufferable bag of douche.
