A few months ago, some rube tried to get me to pick the most relevant female singer in the game today: Hayley Williams or Cristina Scabbia. (In retrospect, I should have puked on their shoes, rather than just tell them they’re an idiot.) That was when I knew Skin had to get the band back together and set the universe right. Lo and behold, I went online that night hoping for good news and found that my prayers had been answered.

More pertinently, no qualifiers needed — SKIN RULES.

Not amazing, but not horrible. Pretty middle-of-the-road 90’s altrock (albeit with a kick-ass lead singer; that woman is FIERCE.)

I’ve always enjoyed a bit of the finest Skunk. Their singer Skin is easily their most talented member but a good band all together too.

Holy shit, I actually checked the date to see if it was April Fool’s day. I was CERTAIN this was a joke, but amazingly, it doesn’t seem to be.

Skunk Anansie was a forgettable, nu-metal abortion – they were even at the bottom of the barrel as far as nu-metal bands were concerned. They were like Primer 55 bad…Adema bad…Slaves on Dope bad…Videodrone….you get the point.

In 1999, if you went to a pretty shitty nu-metal show, Skunk Anansie would be opening. They would be the band that would be on while you got a beer and took a piss.

iolanach summed it up pretty well: “Really Axl? Skunk Anansie?” “For fuck’s sake.”

saw them play with system of a down on their first tour in ‘98 in support of a sevendust show (back when sevendust shows were awesumm) and thought they were great, bought an album and was pissed at first. Then when i wanted to listen to something that wasn’t metal and chill out a bit, i put this in, and its waaaayy better than any of that hipster chill bullshit thats out today.
Let the man get exited, there’s probably worse things we could find out about him other than the fact he likes non-metal music too.

Harsh words people. Now, I’ll admit that I didn’t particularly like the song in this post, but checking out there myspace page and some other videos shows that they could be a heavy band when they wanted to. I’m a bit of a sucker for a band that can genre hop successfully.

As for everyone complaining about Axl and Vince being whiny bitches, being trend-hoppers, and always trying to get you to listen to new bands, the whole point of this website is for them to be able to try and expose people to the music they like. Do I like everything they post on here? Not really, but I tend to respect the fact that the writers here do. If you don’t like their writing style or personal music preference, then don’t come here. It’s that simple.

Maybe you missed the fact that they got back together because you were too busy being whiny bitches about Crazytown getting back together. You know, because in the internet/blog world it’s more important to be a simpering, whiny, trend hopping bitch than it is to actually post about stuff that matters.
