It is kind of amusing to find anyone on this site claiming someone else has bad taste in music, considering how much propaganda pours out of this blog for shitty, screaming metal bands. I can’t count how many bands have been ruined by screaming vocalists. That’s saying something, considering I like Dave Mustaine’s “singing”.

It will be nice when this current trend of IjusthadmyballsrippedoffandI’mgoingtorecordit vocalists die off and are replaced by people who can actually carrying a tune.

Yeah that’s actually Brendan Benson playing bass with this band. I only know that because that dude has been using that hang dog expression with those shitty glasses for about 10 years in the Detroit area rock scene. It’s a good thing he got hooked up with Jack White, otherwise he was going to end up like the Dirtbombs or the D. Cobras.

Basically popularity is what dictates what you can and can’t like, for instance, Vince, is allowed to like Stereomud, Shinedown, and Sevendust because age regardless, they’ve never been very popular.

Anyway, seems everything you like I hate here at MSucks, so we’ll see, listen to this here…

I dunno, this stuff is always too pretentious for me to get a grip on the music and decide if I like it or not, no real opinion here.

since when were the white stripes boring?

i suppose it’s cool to pick at jack white for being music journalism’s darling, but the white stripes are probably the most consistent active band. every album has its own distinguishable sound, they have an awesome live show, jack white is an exciting guitarist, and they sell records and don’t suck. what is there to hate?

Why would you want Jack White out of the spotlight? He’s one of the best guitarists in the world today, regardless of his simplicity or eccentricity. A lot more talented and innovative than most metal guitarists in my opinion, at least he mixes things up every now and then yet retains a distinctive tone. Powerful, emotional, not exactly technical, not doing anything that hasn’t been done before but doing it well with his own spin, Jack White is instantly recognizable for his guitar sound and there aren’t many that have that kind of instant recognition. That being said, this project does still interest me because the lineup looks pretty awesome. Not exactly a supergroup but definitely some great musicians in there.

The White Stripes are nothing but a gimmick band at this point, but The Raconteurs are awesome, best live show I saw all year (next to Dan Auerbach)
