Saw them last night… Jeff and the whole crew were incredibly humble, down-to-earth guys and very gracious. Yeah, they had a “in your face” stage persona, but that fits the music which was downright awesome. Great combo of classic thrash nostalgia with more “modern” metal trappings (pinched harmonics, blasts, etc). Tight rhythmically, great leads, and some vocal variations to keep it from getting too monotonous (but this is thrash, so… um… monotonous).

Bottom line: tremendously promising up-and-coming YOUNG band (see: perhaps slightly off-putting comments on metal blog infested with narrow-minded morons).

A7X is not my favorite band, but I’m sure I have a few that many of you would impugn my metal credentials for, too. And I’m sure I think some of your favorite and / or most “cherished” (cherished = non-metal, I get it) bands suck as well. Which is why there are more than one band in the non-Metalocalypse real world: because we all like different shit.

All of this is moot, though, because Skeletonwitch is the only band that matters and if you don’t think so, you’re probably not only a fag, but an actual fag – and retarded. And of a race different than me. And maybe you have acne. And like Cradle of Filth. And have a real job. All of which disqualify you from mattering in the world. Impugn THAT.

If any of you ever met Jeff, or any of Lazarus A.D. guaranteed you would be eating your words. It’s real easy to criticize isn’t it. Are any of you in any kind of successful band? Otherwise on what basis are you talking shit, because frankly you know nothing. Unless you are a music theory major or something alike, you have no say in what music is truly good, and you don’t even know how to explain WHY the music you think is good is so great. You are just a fanboy and it boils down to oppion. So keep your shit talking to yourself, no one thinks you are brutal or bad ass because you listen to death metal.

I don’t recall Jeff “dissing” death metal anyways, just the new trend of so called death metal, which i personally call scenesters/scene metal because its all over saturated, overdone, ridiculous noise. The majority of “metal” fans are easily impressed by downtuning guitars, low guttural vocals, and a bunch of emo fags trying to play real metal. I am certain Jeff listens to real death metal that is better and heavier/ more br00t4l than the scene bullshit you probably listen to as do I.

Lazarus A.D. are some of the most real and amazing musicians in the scene right now, especially for their age and if you ever get the chance to see them live, do not hesitate to do it. They are the best thing to come out of our shit little town of Kenosha, WI and they will be the next big metal band so quit posting dumb ass comments just because you feel you have to validate your manhood and/or metal status.

Go listen to Bring Me The Horizon, or some fucking Impending Doom and keep talking shit about real, talented metal bands. Don’t forget, thrash is lame and sucks, its not brutal enough”

wow cant believe everyone is taking that comment so far. its a joke lol he didnt mean anything by it. thats how we all are around here. we just joke around. and to all the people talking bout his musical selections because of avenged sevenfold all i can is wow. so a guy doesnt like to listen to death metal doesnt like to listen to this or that. big fucking deal. a guy can play a specific genre of music and like other bands from genres it is fully possible.

why do all of you people really give a fuck about singer jeff paulick’s diction?. You all need to get lives. I highly doubt this guy is a homophobe. Im sure when he was answering these questions he really wasn’t considering that that many little bitches would be crying over it. Who doesn’t use the word “gay” or “fag” to describe something or someone they dont like. It doesnt necessarily mean that he is discrediting homosexuals. I mean how many people use the word “bitch” but aren’t talking about females how many people use the word “nigger” or “nigga” but are not talking about african americans . while this kid does sound like a moron and a homophobe, lets not forget that a whole fucking lot of the original bay area thrash dudes in sounded just as boneheaded and homophobic in interviews then too. decline of western civ part 2 anyone? that being said, Avenged sevenfold is a terrible band and if he thinks they’re so great his taste is highly questionable. his band’s riffs are real good, but their vocals suck. thats all for now.

Actually, I’m all for gay rights and still use the word “fag” as a random insult. Not, like, seriously, just when goofing off with friends.

If I REALLY want to insult someone (Which I rarely do), I attack their views using sarcasm and pure hatred. And I don’t use slurs when angry because that’s applying hate to the words I otherwise use jokingly… Knaawimean?

But I think this dude was using it out of ignorance. And the Gaahl comment was going too far, imo.

Actually, some of us don’t use “gay” or “fags” as pejoratives because we’re not prepubescent morons and because we also think they’re akin to words like “wop”, “spic”, etc. It actually takes a real vocabulary and some intelligence to insult someone without using a 12-year-old’s vocabulary.
