In other new Metallinews, Kirk Hammett is saying that Jason Newsted will “most likely” perform with the band at their Rock N’ Roll Hall of fame induction. Since Newsted is the member of Metallica who managed to remain the coolest the longest (save Cliff Burton, natch), I’d actually be curious to see that… even if Jason was on Rock Star Supernova.

This is the weakest thing ever…especially with the huge GUITAR HERO banner in the back ground.
I wasn’t there (THANK GOD). There were way better Metal bands in town.
Does everyone know that for 30 minutes before Metallica playe, there were people playing Guitar Hero CONTROLLERS to the crowd!
Please kids listen to Megadeth and learn to play REAL instruments.

I guess I could go on bashing metallica like most….but the truth is these guys are fucking old.
And my wishing they were as badass as they were in the “HEYDAY”and my hate for corporate themes makes me realize….

Alright i agree the fuckin guitar hero back ground is super lame/gay but you cant deny that blackened isnt a kick ass song! I love metallica (minus the Load-St.Anger era) and i think metal owes a lot to them.
I also love Megadeth and play multiple REAL instruments by the way TXn and i still enjoy the odd drunken guitar hero session
i listened to megadeth and then i discovered good music…
these guys used to be my fucking heroes man its just sad now.

I’m not hater. I loved me some Metallica in the day. But damn Kirk. Gets some cream into those arthritic fingers. That solo was pour. You could almost see his brain playing it right, but his fingers just refusing to play along.
I think the only reason people are so critical of Metallica now is because they used to love them so much.

Putting aside all the hate – legit or otherwise – for Metallica the past 15 years, that was pretty fucking awesome.
I thought it was pretty cool
Don’t get me wrong I love the old shit and metal has a lot to be thankful for from these guys but I can’t be the only one who wakes up in a cold sweat every morning and thinks to myself “It should have been Lars.”
The fact is there are bands out right now who are better at being Metallica than Metallic themselves will ever be again. I just don’t care about them anymore one way or the other and I haven’t for years.
